Without my experience and, business, and both freelance/job history. I would be still upset with the experience. In fact I am ignoring any operational and customer success experience and providing it only when speaking of best practices.
If Gordon Ramsay came by to say Hi, I would say “Please have a seat, and taste one of these wings.” The after the confused look on his face if he didnt speed to the kitchen yer follow up with “It’s sad using your name to upsell rubbish I’m eating out of hunger and not wanting to raise a complaint because I’m too tired. Because of this we are not looking to dine at Hell’s Kitchen.”.
Celebrating the other half’s birthday this week. We wanted something to hold us over since we both ate a light breakfast and have been traveling all day.
Came in for the 4pm hour. First customers for the 4pm section/reopening. There was a small spot of bar seating with a baby throwing a serious temper tantrum to our left. Instead of at least asking of where we would like to sit especially all of the space available to the right for anyone including an adult couple to sit the hostess immediately steered us next to this child in other other section that was opened already. We both instinctually asked the hostess at the same time for being seated at the other side. The others after us were also lead to the same empty area where we had asked to be sat. Already setting a bad experience.
The waiter arrived and seemed to be very transactional and annoyed. No real time to look at the menu. We were asked about drinks without a drink menu. I did ask for a root beer and they had Hanks. This is what my one star was for. Hanks is great.
I ordered the Garlic Parmesan wings for myself and the other half upon my recommendation, ordered the duck poutine t start.
To cut to the chase it was well fried but the meat was not seasoned. It was clean and was fresh. No real taste of garlic.
(Going to my experience) When testing or binging in people to create food programs I reject anything that relies on sauce to do the work. The protein or veggies needs to hold itself by being properly seasoned.
In an attempt to stomach the food. I called over the waiter to ask for blue cheese instead of ranch. (Tasted more like an aioli) He sharply asked if I do not like it and I stated “I would like blue cheese please”. I had to drench the chicken with the blue cheese. The other half poutine was only eaten half way. The sauce was extremely salty. Instead of going forward eating more we called it quits. The waiter was staring intently on me waiting the tip amount. Should had went for the 15 percent rule. Went across to that food center and ate some gelato. It wasn’t worth my hard earned (not won) money.
For redemption we went to Mortons later. I ordered a chicken Christopher with a wedge salad later that night. Left full and satisfied.
I have also learned Harrahs has better food selection...
Read moreThere's a lot to say about this restaurant, most of them are great.
I know that a lot of people come to this restaurant because of the attached celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay. So, when you come to this restaurant, there are a lot of expectations for the restaurant to live up to. For the most part, it did love up to then and some of the few things that didn't live up to the hype is honestly out of their control.
Highlights: We had the fried calamari as an appetizer and let me tell you that this is well worth the reservation by itself. The bright and perfectly crisp calamari contrasted with the malted vinegar mayo dipping sauce was a delight to eat. I would come back to this restaurant, eat this dish and leave satisfied. The decor was on brand. The restaurant has a few nice touches of English iconography and specific Gordon Ramsay branding that gave a nice touch to the experience of dining at this establishment. Overall the food was good with some misses for me personally, but my dining mate truly enjoyed everything and would give everything as a whole 5 stars. The service was incredible! The waitress was attentive, funny and offered great insight and suggestions for our meal. Sandra, wherever you are, thank you for making the meal more memorable overall. We were told by our waitress that droves come specifically for the sticky toffee pudding. Let me tell you that it did not disappoint, and this is coming from someone who generally doesn't like toffee. It was delicious while not being sickly sweet. One thing is for sure, if it wasn't for the vanilla ice cream cutting the sweetness or flavor a bit, the pudding itself would be definitely too sweet. For those who don't know what this is: think carrot cake with less spices and more sweetness and molasses flavor. We had the beef wellington and the pub burger as our entrees. The burger was a bit dry and unmemorable for me. My dinner mate on the other hand was in love with the truffle fries and the truffle butter which he ate with the burger and enhanced his experience. He loved it. I, personally, am not a fan of truffle but I can appreciate how a person that likes it would be enamoured by it. The beef wellington was extremely tender. It practically melted in the mouth. The accompanying mashed potatoes and veggies were also very good. My only complaint about the wellington was that the pastry was so buttery it made it too heavy for me. An annoying part of this restaurant is that it is very exposed to the halls of Caesar's Palace and the crowd there isn't very... Orderly. It's fine if that's your crowd, it's just not my cup of tea.
Overall, I would definitely visit this restaurant again if I plan another trip to Atlantic City (not likely since I'm not a gambler).
Try it, I'm sure you'll find something to like or...
Read moreI came here really not expecting much, I've seen Ramsay's work on TV and know people that have been to his restaurants (both in the US and UK) and also to restaurants he "saved" from his TV shows. While I'm sure the man can cook (he wouldn't have gotten famous if he couldn't) I just felt people might over hype him a bit. I've also had some terrible dining experiences in AC, even at some high end places. I've actually dined in Caesars before (5 years ago) and really disliked my experience there. This all changed tonight. This might have been the best meal I've had in all of New Jersey period. The lobster roll was the best I've ever had, and I always go for lobster rolls. The beef Wellington though, OMG... I was only getting it because I've never had it and Ramsay is known for it. Originally I didn't really want it, I felt that covering a filet in pastry is a waste of a filet, my mentality was "just make me a steak" and wow was I wrong. This was damn good and I'd drive back here again for it. I was told it wasn't totally traditional, it is a larger portion than what you get in the UK and the mustard isn't as noticeable in this version but that didn't make it any less delicious. I will most likely be back in August just for those two items. Finally our waitress was adamant that we get the sticky toffee pudding as one of our desserts, I always appreciate recommendations but I get a bit annoyed usually when they are adamant. That said, after much deliberation we decided to get it because we wanted to see if we could find something to complain about. If something is highly recommended ends up being "just ok" that isn't acceptable in our eyes but WOW I'm glad our waitress was, it was excellent. My GF has had many sticky toffee puddings and she said this was the best she has ever had. Ironically the dessert I picked, the creme brulee, was the only thing I can complain about. It was honestly garbage. I'm not saying that lightly. I live off of creme brulee and this one should have been in the trash. Nothing about it was good and it should be removed from the menu immediately. If Gordon actually tried this and approved it I don't know man... But maybe that's why a lot of his desserts failed on the UK version of The F Word. Perhaps it was prepared wrong but nothing in the creme brulee we had worked at all and it was trying too hard. Regardless that doesn't hurt my score as I overall enjoyed the...
