McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Auburn

My family and I visited McAlister’s in Auburn, IN the 2nd day after they officially opened. I ordered all of my families food, then tried using my earned rewards at once, only to find out you can only use rewards on one meal at a time, once per transaction. So, ring up one meal or drink at a time then use your rewards. The manager came up, voided the whole transaction and re-rang up our food. Rang up our food one meal at a time, then used the reward. She was very sweet, calm and collected. I was very patient as well. The kitchen staff was confused, but hey who wouldn’t be? They had a huge meal ticket sent back, made the entire food order. “They forgot to make my daughters ham sandwich.” Then had 4 other meal tickets sent back from the re-rings.. Yes, confusing.. They lost my daughters food ticket, not once, but twice for her ham sandwich. We had several employees stop by our table asking how our food was, we asked about her food. It was checked upon by employees about 5 times. Frustrated now, I then started to walk toward the kitchen, I was stopped by a couple gentleman sitting in the corner table catty corner from us, they were from corporate. I told them, I’d like my daughters food. I didn’t know, but he then followed me to the kitchen. Within a 5 minutes or so we got her ham sandwich. The manager was very apologetic, gave my children some cookies & free meals. We thanked her. It totally wasn’t expected. I’m giving McKalisters 5 stars because the staff is so amazing! Our first experience wasn’t the best, but you know what. It’s NOT going to stop us from visiting again. We love it here. The staff work well together as a team, it’s so obvious. The training team, cashiers, cooks are are wonder people. Very tentative. Smiling, happy, and always walking around the restaurant greeting guests, taking care of tables, and clearing plates. The atmosphere is just amazing. The food, Omgosh. Wow, A+! 2 of us King Club with a Cesar Salad, French Dip & Mac & Cheese, Ruben with Cesar Salad, Ham & Olive Sandwich with Cesar Salad. These sandwiches as so delicious!! I highly recommend them. We can’t wait to try and other one!! The best hands down!! Oh and the broccoli soup! Yummy in your tummy!! Auburn, In needed this Deli. We decided to try this location instead of our usual McAlister's. We ordered our food and sat down. When our food arrived, one of the employees (I'm thinking it was the manager) apologized for it taking so long. Mind you, it was not very long at all considering our order was for a family of 4! He explained that the oven they use to bake their potatoes wasn't working correctly, and they had to microwave them to finish the cooking process. He apologized profusely and offered some freebies to us. We decided on a dessert- brookies it was! My thought was it was completely unnecessary. It wasn't that long of a wait to begin with. But for him to head off any potential unhappy customers shows the type of leadership quality that McAlister's is lucky to have - whether we realized or not there was something not meeting McAlister's quality standards. In closing, I hope the people above him in the foodchain read this and know, APPRECIATE, and show him that he is a valuable asset to their company. His value to not only that location, but McAlister's as a company is worth it's weight in gold. I very rarely give 5 star ratings on here but HE earned that 5th star for being a...

Always room for improvement especially when items listed on menu are not available. Simple items like desserts or soup. Ordered wrap after cashier had difficulty understanding which part of the menu I was ordering from. Perhaps new employee. Cost of salad, side said wrap and 2 teas was pretty costly compared to lack of flavor and lack of good friendly service. Unfortunately the avocado salad, yes avocado was in the name of the salad, wasn't as expected. There were no avocado's on the salad at all! When inquired where the avocado's were employee said they are hard, too hard to cut did you still want them? Sadly never told avocado's were not available with other items not in stock. No discount or coupons for future visits were offered. Makes a customer feel like a number nit...
