Where to begin…I have always heard great things about the Jim ‘N Nick’s brand. Therefore, I was extremely excited to see that they built one here in Augusta because we definitely needed a good barbecue place. However, I was quickly disappointed. The new establishment was clearly not designed for a large dine in crowd. There is only about 10 tables at most and an oversized bar area that seems a little too big, but there is plenty of outdoor seating which isn’t too bad considering the type of climate that we have here in Augusta. Then again, I should knew something was wrong when there was a young lady escorting the customers through the door; only for her to inform us that this was one of their largest locations. The only reason this place gets a one star for me is because of their customer service. The staff, managers included, were friendly and welcoming. They were very professional and polite. The staff was constantly checking on the customers to see if they needed anything and cleaning tables. They did their thing with staffing. My issue is with the food. The real and only star of the show was the cheddar biscuits that tasted more like sweet cornbread. My sister ordered the barbecue chicken with Mac and cheese and baked beans. I ordered the pulled pork and spare ribs with the Mac and cheese and baked beans. The only thing that came out piping hot was the side orders. I was not expecting to see pickles on top of the each meat selection. It kind of threw off the flavor of the food. My sister’s chicken was lukewarm at best. My entree was down right completely cold. Being from the Carolina, I decided to go with their vinegar based sauce. I wasn’t impressed. The flavor was very off putting. However, despite the spare ribs being on the pricey side and not being fond of so much pink throughout the all the meats, the ribs were actually pretty tender. Thinking that you can’t go wrong with banana pudding, I decided to try it as my dessert. What a mistake. It was a tad bit on the watery side and a strange yellowish color. I will NOT be writing home about this. I’ve had better from Walmart and IGA off Deans Bridge road. With all that being said, I’m hoping that they will improve on the quality of food and find that right temperature for all of their food, but I have no urge to go back.

I recently visited Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The price point at Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q is on the higher side for what you receive. I paid nearly $30 for my meal, which included brisket, baked beans, french fries, and a corn muffin. However, the quality and quantity did not justify the cost. The BBQ sauce left much to be desired—it was bland and uninspiring. It reminded me of a flavorless sweet ketchup with no smoke flavor or spice. What's worse, there was only one type of BBQ sauce offered, limiting options for flavor enhancement. While the baked beans were passable, they leaned towards being overly sweet, which may not appeal to everyone. The french fries were a letdown as they didn't taste that great and the portion size was quite small considering the price. On the positive side, the corn muffin was enjoyable, offering a nice contrast to the other lackluster items. I specifically ordered the brisket with half lean and half marbled, but all of it seemed lean, which was disappointing given my request. Despite the high prices and large tip I never received any service. I had to eat my meal without a spoon for the beans, and there was no easy way to obtain one myself. There was no waitress or waiter to check on me, refill my drink, or provide any assistance throughout my meal. On that subject, I felt pressured into tipping at a higher than average percentage since 15% wasn't an option and it went all they up to 25% on the display. What was particularly frustrating about this was that they prompt you to tip before you pay for your meal. This means you pre-tip for service without knowing how the service will be, which is unfair and misleading. This was further exasperated since I received no service despite needing it. In conclusion, my visit to Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q was disappointing. The high prices did not match the quality of food or service provided. For nearly $30, I expected better food and basic service. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I am writing to share my recent experience at your Jim’N Nick’s on July 15, 2024, at approximately 5:28 PM. As a member of a military family, we often patronize businesses that support the military community, and your establishment has always been one of our favorites. During our visit, we politely inquired about the military discount and the specific amount applied to our bill. Unfortunately, our cashier, Alexis or Jaderich, appeared to become offended when we requested a breakdown of the charges. As loyal customers, we found this response unprofessional and uncharacteristic of the outstanding service we have come to expect from your establishment. We believe that a customer should be able to ask for clarification regarding their bill without fear of facing an adverse reaction from staff members. In this instance, it seems that Alexis or Jaderich may benefit from additional training on how to address customer inquiries professionally and courteously. As much as we have enjoyed visiting your establishment in the past, this experience has left us with reservations about returning. We sincerely hope that Alexis's or Jaderich’s response was an isolated incident and not indicative of a larger issue. It would be unfortunate if other customers were to encounter similar situations, potentially affecting your establishment's reputation. We value your commitment to providing excellent service and hope that this feedback can contribute to maintaining the high standards your business has set for itself. We look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter and the steps you may take to address these concerns. P.S. not sure which cashier we interacted with at the payment window. The cashier did not give her name.

The first time we tried to get food from here, we were unable to because they were not accepting online or telephone orders (this was a couple weeks ago).

We decided to go to the restaurant to dine in last night (2/3/24). The drive-thru (which we didn't know they had until we arrived) was wrapped around the building. The line to eat inside was to the door, almost out the door, but moved quickly. Seating actually inside is limited, but they do have a covered outdoor area. However, if it's cold, I don't think the heaters would do enough to make it comfortable out there.

Once we got to the front of the line to order the first four items we asked for were sold out (chicken wings, potato wedges, Carolina pulled pork, regular pulled pork). This immediately was a disappointment considering it's a BBQ restaurant, how could you possibly have run out of pork by 6pm. We ended up getting two combo plates one with chicken and brisket the other with turkey and ribs.

The chicken/brisket plate came to the table in a reasonable time. The server set the food down and asked if we had anything else. We told them I still needed my food, and they said it should be out soon. We watched several tables get food and I waited. At least 10 minutes had passed and I still had no food, and no one had been back to check on us. When I was about to get up and ask about my food, someone came over (I think she saw me looking around and could tell something was wrong). She went to the kitchen to check on my food, and it ended up that they had also run out of ribs, but no one cared to come and ask me what other option I would like. So yet again, I had to pick another choice that was not actually what I wanted.

The food we did have was good; nothing knocked your socks off by any means. Their sauce was the best thing on the plate, and their coleslaw is good. The slaw is not a traditional slaw, it's a different base but tasty.

The one girl who actually ended up getting me my food is the person who saved this review from being a zero in service. It's also disappointing that you pay and tip before you get your food, because we would not have given 20% at the counter for me to be served 10-15 min later than the person I was with.

I may consider trying this place again after the "newness" has worn off. But, until then, I will stick to Willie Jewels because I have never had them tell me they are out of...

My family and I went there today. We were a party of 8. After a very long wait to order (16 mins) cause the cashier didn't know what was going on with the ppl in front of us 😳 was another situation. I asked if we could order at the takeout, and she told us no cause they were taking entirely too long to order. Customers should just place orders at the table. This was ridiculous. I dislike how you have to order your food. So after our order was placed we went outside where the tables were dirty. I asked the young lady could you clean these tables so we could sit here she responded with an attitude, you have to wait cause we are short staffed but she continues to clean the tables that no one wanted to sit at. I went to the manager and explained he said we were not short staffed and he got another young lady to clean off the dirty tables I stated to the manager if she didn't want to be at work he should have sent her home I didn't want to deal with her attitude and could they get someone else to wait on us if possible. Finally, food comes out . I ordered 3 potatoes with brisket and a rib plate, 4 drinks and extra bread, and 100 total, and all 3 potatoes were cold and didn't seem fresh at all it was horrible. It was so long for someone to come back and check on us when our food arrived they would have thought it just got cold cause we were there sitting waiting on them to come out. The rest of the party food was ok they stated it just was not hot. I truly felt like my money was wasted, but because my son wanted that after his honors day program, we went. I'd rather have gone to Shane's BBQ in Evans cause this experience was not great today.

On a positive note, I just ate lunch there with Javell he was an amazing server the other day, and I ordered 1 potatoe the same way it was piping hot and fresh . Javell attitude was great, and he was so well-spoken and polite. I hate that they have to share tips cause he deserves that whole 20.00 to himself. That was the reason I didn't mind doubling back there, but I shouldn't have. Ugh !!!! I wish I could have got the young lady's name, but she definitely needed some coaching, or working with the public is...
