We were so excited to try this cafe and wine bar. I have celiac and was pleased to see a plethora of GF labeled options on the menu including bread and pizza crust and thought we stumbled across another safe option in Austin. Everything we attempted to order, clearly labeled GF on the menu, had 1-2 ingredients with wheat (ie soy sauce dressing, flour added to meatloaf and sauce, fries tossed in flour, etc) and serving staff had no idea until pressed to double check with the chef. We asked why they were mislabeled on the menu and the server said we were the tenth complaint that month about the menu errors and the owner doesn’t care. If you’re advertising yourself as allergy friendly in Austin but don’t pay attention to your menu and/or specific ingredients, these mistakes are going to get you sued and/or make one of your patrons seriously ill. There are enough restaurants in Austin that care. If you don’t, just take the GF designations off your menu.
We tried to make the best of the situation and order food we knew would be safe. Unfortunately food was still pretty poor quality. Ordered an Asian cabbage salad I was so excited about that had no cabbage and nothing Asian about it. Lettuce was field greens and wilted. Had very few added veggies. Again, nothing like the description on the menu.
Until the owner/management decides they care enough to have their menu descriptions match what you’re actually getting, and they improve the quality of the food, I would...
Read moreI have nothing bad to say about the food. I got the bacon cheddar burger and an order of small fries and the food was very good. However, my issue is with the added costs attached to the food.
I walked over from my office center and ordered to go for myself and a coworker. Here is the issue I have with this place…A 20% service charge was automatically added and a 10% packing fee. A 30% added fee for a to-go pick up order is unacceptable (2 x cheeseburgers and fries = $47). I know I could have cancelled and walked away, but I have limited time for lunch and was ordering for someone else as well…I was in a little bit of a time crunch to get back.
To me a service charge is for the wait staff “serving you” and as for the 10% packing fee..well I get paper bags and foil cost money, but that seems a little high to add to the cost.
I think this whole tipping thing has gotten out of hand. If I walked up to you and ordered to go (no one serves me) then cut the service charge out or leave it as an option.
It’s a good place to dine in and the food is very good. However, I am not ever going to order to go from them…you’re better...
Read morei’ve never been here before and i’m sure the food is awesome but i just had to review this for service before i even taste the food. i’m picking up a large order for work and it was placed online for curbside. i get here and wait a few mins (giving that its a large order and peak lunchtime so maybe they are just running behind), but after 10 mins of waiting i call and the employee was rude over the phone and hung up on me because he “couldn’t hear me” . it was nothing on my end i think it was just loud in the restaurant but that’s no reason to cut me off. so i walk inside and they have my order ready and i explain that i waited outside because it was supposed to be curbside. then they tell me that they don’t do curbside. then take that off the website. it’s a large order and i’m one person, the bags were huge so i was hoping to not have to get out my car but whatever, take curbside off your website if it’s not a thing. food smells amazing though i’m...
