Our Saturday night at Gati was nothing short of magical, an experience that left us utterly delighted with both the ice cream and the exceptional service. From the moment we walked in, we were treated to an exquisite tasting adventure.
One of the standout features was their policy on samples—they generously allowed us to try as many flavors as we wanted, using tiny metal spoons that not only enhance the tasting experience but also help reduce plastic waste—a thoughtful touch that aligns with their commitment to sustainability.
When we expressed interest in Thai tea ice cream, the scooper was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly charming, describing it as "sweet as Thai tea." This recommendation swayed us, and we also opted for the coconut ash and an ice cream Sammy. Each bite transported us to Flavor Town, leaving us thoroughly impressed and our expectations exceeded.
We had the pleasure of enjoying our ice cream outside, surrounded by the pleasant evening air with cicadas serenading us—an idyllic setting that enhanced our experience even further.
The staff's attentiveness was also noteworthy. When Lauran accidentally dropped her spoon, they promptly replaced it without hesitation or any fuss, exemplifying their commitment to customer satisfaction.
Lauran was so enamored by the experience that she started browsing nearby houses within walking distance of Gati, proclaiming it the best ice cream she's ever had, even calling it "life-altering."
Our enthusiasm for Gati didn't end there. We shared our newfound love with friends at church, where we were dubbed "sweet as Thai tea" by a Gati worker. While some preferred Zeds, another popular spot in Austin, we staunchly defended Gati for its unparalleled flavors and exceptional service.
We left Gati already planning our return to try the Cookie Monster flavor, eager to embark on another delightful...
Read moreEditing my review from a 5 to a 4. Gati has implemented a 15% fee to help pay sick leave and benefits for employees. Increasing your prices would be more transparent than adding a fee at the point of transaction. There’s a small note at the front but I only read it after I was charged an additional $3 on my order. Additionally, blaming an increase service fee on your employees is not tactful. If you want to give your employees benefits, then raise your prices, or lower your profit, and just do it. You don’t need to announce to your customers that your staff’s benefits are contingent on my additional 15%.
Original review: The ice cream here is AMAZING!!! They’re all plant based and there’s lot of fun flavours. There’s Thai basil, Thai tea, Thai coffee, eggnog and so much more.
My favourite was pandan, Thai tea, and the chocolate flavour. You can also get ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cakes. The ice cream texture is similar to milk ice cream, not as creamy but to be expected. But the flavours are sooo spot on.
There’s also lots of baked goods. We tried the chocolate chip cookie. I hate to say it but it was bad. We ended up throwing it out. It had molasses and spices in it and the texture was unpleasant. Not willing to knock a star off for it though before the ice cream was so good.
I’ll...
Read moreWell I eat dairy free and gluten free and egg free. And was super excited to come here. But the costumer service was so rude to me I will not be back.
I spend a lot of money here buying all the things I can’t normally buy. I love baking and have not been able to find a good Doughnut recipe that works without eggs. And in surprise at seeing the egg free doughnuts I said,” oh my gosh I’ve never been to a place that has doughnuts I can have and I’ve never been able to make any successfully !! How did you do that!!
And she responded,” I don’t know and even if I did know I wouldn’t tell you.” Which caught me off guard because it was a rhetorical question. But the tone used was so rude. I brushed it off and went to try ice cream samples I tried two samples and one I didn’t enjoy very much. Wanting to find a better option I asked to try one more. And was flat out refused and referred to a sign saying only two samples….. they clearly don’t care about my business. They cater to a very specific crowd that is way more limited. And as a small business you don’t want to alienate your customers. I’m very sad. But I refuse to give my money to people who treat me...
