I recently visited Hippie Picnik on 11th St., just on the east side of the highway in Austin, and I’m already excited for my next visit.
This gem, owned by a passionate young entrepreneur who’s been running it for four years, is a must-visit for anyone craving incredible food and a vibrant, community-focused vibe.
The atmosphere is unbeatable, with a laid-back, welcoming energy that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy, and soak in the local Austin spirit.
The food here is nothing short of amazing. Every dish bursts with flavor, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. They’ve got a garden on-site, which adds such a cool touch to the whole setup. The menu has something for everyone, and the prices are surprisingly affordable for the quality and portion sizes. It’s rare to find such a perfect balance of delicious food and great value in Austin.
What sets Hippie Picnik apart is the experience. The location on the east side is fantastic, and they host live events that make every visit special. On Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 PM, weather permitting, you can catch live music or other fun events, and sometimes they spill over to the weekends too.
It’s a great spot for families, with toys available to keep kids entertained while parents enjoy the food and music. The owner also runs Hippie Ice next door, and if you spend over $20 on food, you get a free shaved ice, which is such a fun perk. I love that this is a local, homegrown business.
Supporting a young entrepreneur who’s pouring so much heart into this place feels good. Whether you’re planning a casual dinner, a family outing, or an event, Hippie Picnik is the spot. The combination of fresh food, a lively atmosphere, and thoughtful touches like the garden and kid-friendly setup makes it a standout. Do yourself a favor and check it out, you won’t be...
Read more5 stars across the board!! there was only one man there, but he was so efficient and the service was incredible. most food trucks will call your number to pick up your food and that will be the last of your interaction, but the man (who i assume was the owner) brought us our food, checked up on us several times, and threw our trash away. the food was so amazing, and we were hesitant to try it at first, but he reassured us that we would enjoy the food and even gave us recommendations. my husband and i had the Crunchwraps (i had it with doritos and beef and he had it with hot cheetos and chicken), and it’s no exaggeration when i say i left FULL and i still had a couple of bites left lol! please take your time to visit, you’ll be...
Read moreThis spot was a dope little gem I randomly found on maps. It looks like you're in someone's backyard and feels that was too. The staff was super friendly and made you feel like you're hanging out with them in a backyard. I had the Texan Beef Bratwurst on a roll and fries. The sausage was juicy, but with a nice snap, the roll was soft and crunchy and the fries were crispy and seasoned well. We also had a caramel cheesecake that was fantastic, but it was gone before I remembered to snap a pic. This place is definitely a spot to check out. Plenty of space for seating and a stage for...
