I went in yesterday to try P. Terry's since I have seen many of their locations. The first thing I noticed was how low the price was (able to compete with much larger chains that can normally out sell locally owned shops due to their economies of scale alone). The menu was a bit of a challenge to navigate since it has all options on it at one time, but if you step back and look at it, you will see how it works or go to the website its much more user friendly. While I was looking over the menu, a man walked up and started a conversation. I explained I had never been to one of these locations before, and he offered to buy mine and a coworkers lunch. He then introduced himself as Patrick Terry, owner of the chain. As a result, I asked him what he recommended from his own establishment. Turned out he recommends the Double Cheeseburger or the Crispy Chicken Burger. I will say it was nice to find a chain or even a restaurant period that is small enough to be able to meet the owners. This one was an unexpected meeting because I have seen so many locations. I just assumed it was franchised out.
I tried the double cheeseburger meal. This meal came with a drink and fries. I first went to the drink dispenser and noticed the options are not the normal options you find at places. Instead, they are more original options, and you get more to pick from. When my number was called, I picked up my tray, and it was easy to figure out who's was who's between mine and my coworker's because they number them with numbers that match your receipt. Upon opening the Double Cheeseburger, the first thing I noticed was that the cheese was melted, not just an odd blob like other fast food places. I have a habit of opening my burger up to see the ingredients because I am very picky about things I do not like. When I opened it, I noticed they were not "stingy" with the toping, so to say. Everything I asked for was there and in a good quantity. The bun was soft, and the taste was good overall. Now we make it to the fries. I feel they are not quite shoestring fries like Fast Freddy's, and not quite regular fries. They are like the McDonald's in between fries for size. For taste, I was a bit disappointed. I felt they had a little too much salt, but I would not hold that against them because it may have only been that batch. In addition, if I used condiments, I would not have noticed. With all of this said for the price and quality, I will recommend P.Terry's. You may take it or leave it, for myself, I will be...
Read moreI have taken down a previous 5-star rating; I visited this P. Terry's store for the first time about ~3 months ago and found it amazing: pleasingly designed interior, excellent service, clean store—a perfect experience. This was very welcome after the slow deterioration of P. Terry's #10 at Koenig and Lamar over the last year or so as a consequence of that store's poor attempts at dealing with unwelcome non-paying visitors and the problems they have been (and as far as I know still are) creating for management, employees, and customers. After several recent less-than-stellar experiences following my initial visits at this store (P. Terry's #2), I began to form the impression that my earlier positive experiences here were more of a fluke and not the norm. Today, September 28, I came in to redeem an offer for a promo good until October 15. The cashier said they're not accepting them anymore. I pointed out that it's supposed to be good until October 15. (If they didn't want to make any new offers for the promo, then fine, that's their prerogative. But I already held up my end of the bargain after this offer was made and accepted back on September 15—and supposed to be good for the next 30 days, according to the printed offer.) The cashier responded, not very politely, that they're "just not taking them anymore". I ended up leaving without placing an order but not before the cashier asked me if I wanted to add anything else to the other items I'd originally tried to order and pay for, indicating she was under the impression that I would for some reason still be interested in handing them money after they JUST revealed that they weren't honoring their word and had wasted my time, not to mention the trip I took to get there. Totally inconsiderate and un-selfaware. I left and went to another store where not all of my fries were cooked. I will lower the frequency that I come to any P. Terry's (if at all) and will definitely stop recommending it to people, since I don't want to come off as misrepresenting it as great when that's not the kind of experience they can...
Read moreFood was great but giving 3 stars because service was subpar. Went in today with a friend who’s never been to PTerrys and insited she try it. Unfortunately, before we even had a bite of our food we had a sour taste in our mouths.
After we ordered 2 combos, paid and the next person had gone I realize I didn’t receive my cup. When I asked for it he had an attitude and asked for my receipt which I gave him. He then realized instead of charging us for the 2 combos like we’d asked he only input 1 combo and a burger (which doesn’t make sense considering he repeated our correct two combo orders back to us). He snarkily added “I need your card to charge you for changing your order” we looked at each other confused because we didn’t “change” anything...
With customer service being a thing and all. I would think that considering it was his mistake he would take care of that small charge instead of nickel-and-diming us for $3. I was wrong and I paid it 🤷🏽♀️
Once our order was called, we asked for sides of special sauce for our 2 orders of fries so we could have our own individual sauces (I didn’t think that was too much to ask for) but obviously I was wrong. He gives us 1 packet of sauce and looks at us. So I asked again and after a good huff and puff he went to the back and got me one.
I don’t know what was going on with this young man, but his attitude was...
