Hostess and servers were all wearing masks. We wore ours in, but masks for guests did not appear to be a requirement. We were greeted kindly, and promptly. We were a large party, and our server did a good job of keeping our table clean, delivering great service, and tending to our needs promptly. I was very impressed by the staff at this restaurant, as well as the cleanliness of the entire building. A lot of care and attention is taken into keeping up with the place. However, I did not much enjoy the food. I was surprised at this considering the name, the price point, and the reputation. I believe what you’re paying for is service, location, and presentation. For my first cocktail, I initially ordered a Paloma, but I returned the beverage after seeing a small fly in my drink, which I am aware is no one fault. It could have easily fallen in at any point, and it’s the risk you run when keeping fresh cut fruit in your inventory. Our server quickly offered to replace the drink, to which I decided to try something different. I ordered the Thyme Lemon Drop, but I ended up not drinking it. In my opinion, I did not taste any thyme in the beverage, which is what I was most looking forward to. I am a big fan of herbs in cocktails, and it was very underwhelming. I ordered the salmon, and about 20 minutes later, the manager came to inform me that they were currently out of salmon, and offered a different option. I ended up ordering the Red Snapper, which was good, but not really that great. I think I just really prefer salmon. The truffle sauce on the red snapper was a really nice touch, and I loved the cauliflower mousse. The manager kindly chose to remove the red snapper from our bill, which I was not expecting and did not believe was necessary, but I definitely appreciated the gesture. I ordered a lemon bar for dessert, which was topped with a thick layer of marshmallow, and torched table side, but only the marshmallow topping. The lemon bar itself was very cold and hard. It did not taste bad, but it was just a lot sweeter than I typically enjoy. The bananas foster was prepared table side, and was absolutely delicious. I have to say I think it was my favorite dish. I would go back here, but maybe just for drinks and appetizers. It is a lot to pay without thoroughly enjoying the meal. The atmosphere was wonderful. Very beautiful design that appears to be carefully crafted. We didn’t have any trouble finding parking, and the restaurant wasn’t overwhelmingly busy. I highly recommend making a...
Read moreThey Forgot about us…on my birthday!! I literally the whole night kept mentioning the whole dinner being totally bewildered! So winding the story back, we had reservations for 8pm Friday the 27th of October for over a month, showed up around 7:30, and checked in. Not only did we literally stand over half an hour awaiting our name to be called, but over the course of that time, not one, not two, but three hostesses not once asked us “if we had checked in”, checked on our reservation, NOPE, just blank stares between calling names. Around 8:05, I walked up to a hostess to ask about our reservation, upon which they immediately led us up the stairs to the seating area…WHERE THE SAT THE WRONG PARTY…and said they thought we would be joining…not only did they not ask them to move…they literally sat us at a table clearly not intended to be used. Mind you I wasn’t in casual Friday attire, silk shirt, slacks, polished shoes, ect…Birthday attire, to be sat at a oops we messed up table after being blankly stared at for a half hour! So past the reservation, the table chair literally looked dirty, food was abhorrently long wait and oh the ambiance…..yelling…parties literally yelling. I couldn’t even hear a conversation between myself and my date literally a foot away as the chairs were improperly placed and hostess didn’t even bother moving, her actual only words were “sorry” before walking off. The dress code is a joke at best, basically any clothing is acceptable there. The dress code gives off vibes that it isn’t a requirement for entry but a simplified justification for removal. The waiter was pretty nice but food takes a long time, no offers for extra bread. Also how is it surf in turf with decent steak…and the smallest of lobster tails, honestly underwhelming! Overall imho Fogo de Chão would’ve been eons better, never had extremely loud parties, better selection and ambience. Way to drop the ball and not even try to show decorum for such a blunder or adhere to the very social rules this establishment was chosen for as the noise and lack of attention to detail was truly abhorrent. Also apparently you get a free dessert on your birthday…nope...
Read moreFirst off I want to say that I have never eaten at Perry's and was looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant here in Austin. I have also previously worked in the service industry for over twenty years so I am no stranger to the business.
Tuesday May 14, 2024 we had tickets at the Paramount to see a show so we made reservations at Perry's for 6:30. We knew we were only going to order apps and drinks seeing as we didn't want to over eat. We arrived on time. We were not sat for over 10 minutes, no big deal. The problems came once we were sat. The restaurant is beautiful. I was very excited to eat there. I had gone to the gym in anticipation of all the yummy foods. It was extremely busy for a Tuesday but seeing as we were ordering appetizers we figured we would have plenty of time. Our server greeted us after about 10 minutes, we ordered drinks and the calamari. It took almost 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Still no calamari which is a quick cook. We ordered a salad and sliders once our drinks arrived. All of these things take very little time to prepare, or so we thought. After almost 40 minutes we received our salad. None of the other apps. We had also ordered 2 more drinks thinking okay it's all going to come out at once, we eat and go. No, not the case. After almost an hour and a half we had to go. No food, except for a salad and only one round of drinks were had. AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!
I asked for the manager, which we never do, but this was ridiculous. The "manager" who was sent to speak to us was probably 24 at best. I was pissed at this point. She didn't care. It was obvious. No "I'm sorry or anything. We were not happy. They comped our 2 drinks and the salad we barely had time to eat. We were there for an hour and a half and no food thus the no stars for good because we never got to try it. I left the server some cash, because it probably wasn't her fault.
TOTAL AND COMPETE DISAPPOINTMENT. GET IT TOGETHER. IT WAS...
