I will preface by saying I enjoy the food, but the customer service I received here today was next level bad.
I ordered two chalupas with beef fajita meat and the lady said chicken back to me. I said no, they are beef. I assumed that was that and actually internally had a sigh of relief that a potentially bad experience had been avoided.
Anyway, I get home and unwrap two chicken fajita chalupas. I don't even eat chicken fajita meat. It isn't part of my vocabulary at a mexican restaurant.
At that point I had the do I add another 40 minute round trip to get it fixed moment. Since the food wasn't remotely appealing, I drove back. I saw the same order taker was there and assumed that was a good thing. It wasn't.
I calmly went up to the window and said I ordered two beef fajita chalupas and received two chicken fajita chalupas. The lady starts arguing with me that I said chicken. I explained that I said beef the first time and she said chicken and then I again said no, beef.
After a brief argument she said unfortunately there is nothing I can do, you would have to reorder and pay again. I was livid. They had actually messed up an order a year ago and remade it that time with no grief, so I suspect it was just this lady digging in like a child to once again scream I am right and the decision maker.
Anyway, eventually I get to talk to the manager who was completely rational who said he would remake it quickly.
I would like thay lady to think two steps ahead as to where her attitude leads.
I qould have reordered and charged back the first order thus costing them an extra $30 and adding to their risk of higher credit card processing fees.
They get additional negative reviews. I doubt they care at this point since their reviews are stellar, but it can be a slipper slope.
The last one is you create a customer who hates you and feels justified in tipping 0 for a good while and will proudly pronouce I received horrible service here previously, so I am not tipping.
Great job lady, you can continue to strongly believe you are right and hurt the place you work over two chalupas or you can do thd right thing and simply say, I am sorry. We will remake those for you...
Read moreWow what a let down. I searched El pastor tacos on Google and Yelp and I'll pop this place. I even asked Reddit and they said this was a place to go. Wow was I disappointed, El pastor, more like burnt dried unedible little square pieces of meat. El pastor is supposed to be juicy oily / buttery and these were little red pieces of cubes burnt the s* and dry s. I think store bought bacon bits could have done better than this and they had more moisture. $18 for four tacos, the guy even spoke perfect English. What a trash place and will not be coming here again I can't believe this was the recommendation. I didn't even see the El pastor spinning. It's like they made El pastor 10 days ago and chopped all the meat off and then stuck it in little containers and then just reheated it on a stove top. Wow everywhere else in Austin did not disappoint but this was below the belt. Worst experience I have ever had ordering tacos and let alone El pastor tacos. I should have known when I didn't see it spinning. Oh and the tamale was about an inch wide and about 3 in long. I always heard that Austin had good Mexican food being so close to the border, but no matter where you are in California you don't get served dog food like this. Wish I would have saved a photo, it would have shown you the red little pieces burnt s** but I was so hungry that I was willing to eat anything...
Read moreMUST COME HERE! A friend recommended this restaurant to my friend. He loved it so much that he brought me there. Loved it. Now, we Just picked up a German friend of our from the AUS airport & we came straight here to show him some real Mexican food!! No one was disappointed 😍👏🏽! My birria taco cost $4, with a $1 tip. Their salsa and food is actually SPICY 🌶!! I love this level of spicyness. Nice and large menu, over 20 taco options! The girl working the counter was super cute and friendly and efficient at managing the line. Bilingual staff. They have a poster that translates what some of the menu terms mean, and there is a great suggestions list too! Very long line of other locals that kept on growing. I was so sad to have my last bite. I will be bringing friends and family here! 🇲🇽🌮 They could use a little less plastic, though. Since we said “for here”, like as in not to go, they still gave us our food in plastic bags. It’s wasteful and unnecessary to give out that many plastic bags :/ ♻️🌎 be more environmentally friendly & maybe switch to wooden cutlery...
