Read moreFirstly, we were so excited to try out this place as it had an interesting fusion of “Dosa” (a south-Indian food), and “Taco” (Mexican). It is indeed a very new concept and since we like both of them, we were waiting to try it out.
Unfortunately, the food was not up to the standards or hype that we saw or heard. Having tasted Dosa’s right from childhood this definitely was a turn off. If you’re going to advertise your concept as “Dosa-tacos” and have multiple flavors of Paneer, Falafel, Chicken etc,. — then it is that Dosa that’s the main ingredient of the taco — which needs to hold your items together, but it was of very poor taste, and texture (it was over fermented that made it taste so sour). The agreement was that Rote Shaq would help sponsor $400 for the event, and the student organization would cover costs for Rote Shaq to have electricity and propane at the lawn for them to sell food. The student organization even included Rote Shaq’s logo on all event marketing such as posters, handbills, and social media promotions. The event was successful, and Rote Shaq got a lot of business from it. After the event as you can see in the messages below, Rote Shaq informed the student organization that the restaurant was going out of business and that they could not pay the sponsorship amount which they agreed to pay the student organization. This event was in March and it looks like Rote Shaq is still operating as normal in June. Please do yourself a favor and do not get scammed by Rote Shaq just as our student-run non-profit...
