The Dizzy Rooster, or the locals simply call it the Rooster, is one of the many bars along downtown Austin’s 6th Street. Seriously. It’s a hole-in-the-wall, smallish in size. But a life-size Texas State outline on the far wall with the famous phrase by their beloved Texan, Matthew McConaughey, Alright, Alright, Alright in the center really infuses the idea of “enough” Plenty of bar space, and beer. No food is served, and the merchandise is hit and miss. I was only there at my sister’s request for a trucker hat.

I was in the Rooster on a football weekend and found it to be a good place to have a beer, listen to music, and watch the people. I was there twice on the same day, early and late, and the crowd does change as time goes by. Early on it's mixed crowd age-wise and of course later the music becomes more "contemporary". In any event it is as advertised, a college bar with foosball, hoops, pool, beer, and Texas style fraternizing of the genders. Not bad.

Homeless lady outside of the bar claims she is the owner’s wife. Family is trapped under the streets. Pink haired girl that works here can to flips and tricks like a well trained jack Russell terrier. Guy with a cut off has excellent humor and taught pink haired lady everything she knows. Coldest AC on the street if you sit at the bar’s vortex seats. Drinks are great. Would visit again. 10/10 would recommend and visit again!

0/5. My Genderless partner and I used the restroom and were BOMBARDED by several employees banging on the door saying a male was in the stahl. Regardless of gender- no one should be kicked OUT of a bar let alone a bathroom due to using a certain restroom. The employees were extremely aggressive and got a power high over this situation which was disgusting. Not to mention my partner is black and they definitely felt like a racist act the way they treated us with such aggression over nothing. This is 2022 get with every other accepting place in Austin and have a gender less restroom. I would never visit this place if I were a tourist because it does NOT...

Stopped by here on a recent trip to downtown Austin with a group of friends (we are all 24+ years old and did not drink prior to going to this bar). We were all carded and our IDs were thoroughly inspected (which none of us mind, we understand why), but the bartender that served us put no alcohol in our cocktails (we looked) and when we ordered shots, he put the tiniest sliver in each shot glass. Can’t recall his name but he had a thick beard and longer dark hair. The music was also way too loud to have any kind of decent conversation. Definitely better places you can go to on 6th street, like Eureka! And Wild...

BRING A PARKA! Was in town in March for a few days and spent a couple nights here listening to live music and watching March Madness. Fun place with friendly staff...very accommodating when asked to tune a screen into the UFC alongside the basketball games. Knocking a star off however simply due to the fact that it was absolutely freezing inside. Outside daytime temp was a comfortable 80 degrees, and AC was cranked all night making it way too cold. Staff said their policy is to turn it down if they get three complaints...either way, super uncomfortable for March. All in all a fun place and a...
