We arrived at this hotel around 12.00am after driving from Omaha, Nebraska with a 4, 8 and 10 year old. We had a trip planned to California to see family. We were initially going to fly with Frontier airlines, but that flight was cancelled. Around mid-day after we found out about our cancelled flight, we got a rental SUV to drive to California instead. This hotel was going to be our first stop to grab some sleep then proceed with the remainder of our 19 our drive that was ahead. After settling in, our lovely next door hotel party arrived around 1:00am. We called the front desk 3 times by the time 1:30am rolled around to complain about the loud party next door ( we weren’t the only hotel guests who called ), and the front desk said they had a 3 limit call rule to where they would call the police. We waited, and waited, and no police. The party raved on until 2:35am when we decided to call the police directly. We knew the front desk lied and never called. The police arrived at 3:00am, which made the event even louder. They finally made the party leave the hotel at 3:45am. Quite at last. Then we wake up at 8:00 am to the cleaning lady knocking eagerly waiting the opportunity to have us leave so she can make the bed. After that we requested a refund and they said the best they could do was 50%. This was extremely annoying because they basically added on another 6 hours to our trip due to sleep deprivation that was setting in with every minute of being awake. To give an idea, the original price of the room was $177.00. WE got the privilege of walking away with ONLY playing $92.00 to listen to a party all night.
We decided to just suck this up and take it UNTIL the manager lady came to our breakfast table. We are a group of 5 fit individuals to give you an idea of what is to come. This manager working as the receptionist came to the table and saw we were grabbing a few extra boxes of cereal to take with us for our sleep deprived children to eat while we packed up the car, and she said rudely “ for future reference our policy is for guests to only take what they consume at the table”. At this point I said screw it, I am writing this review and they can read through it and decide if they want to give us a full refund or have me post it.
They chose to have me post it.
I would love to attach the recording of trying to negotiate with the manager but there is no place to post it. She refused to do any...
Read moreUpdate March 29, 2025- Breakfast was mostly on time this week. I had a much better experience. I would come again. Thank you!
My room was clean and pretty spacious for the most part. The bathroom is a little cramped but I had really good water pressure in the shower. The placement of the microwave and small coffeemaker is odd. They're in a little alcove next to one of the beds. And the coffeemaker has to sit on top of the microwave if you're going to use both. The main reasons I didn't give a full 5-star rating are the layout of the building itself and the time the breakfast was actually ready.
Building layout: The check-in desk and dining room are in a separate building from the one with the rooms in it. That's OK until you have to go outside to get breakfast. The room building is awkward to navigate. It's set at an angle from the check-in building. The layout of the room building is two arms at a 90 degree angle to each other. But the elevator is in the middle at a 45 degree angle to them. You also can't just look down the hall to see the elevator. It's set weird. I had a few other guests ask where it was as I would come and go from my room. I also became disoriented when I took the stairs down to find my car. The exits I found didn't go to where I thought I was parked. I had to go back and find the elevator as a reference point.
Breakfast: I have no idea if the breakfast was any good. It was supposed to be served from 6 am to 9 am. I was on a work trip and needed to be at my job by 7 am. I had to leave at 6:30 am and the lady still hadn't finished bringing out the hot food. The yogurt in the little fridge was barely chilled so I didn't risk eating that. And the waffle irons were being actively used while the other guests were waiting for the hot food. There were bagels, toast and some so-so breakfast pastries and muffins that I was able to grab on the way out. I also can't say that the coffee was great but it was better than the stuff in the room.
I can't say that I would choose to stay at this hotel if not for work. I don't have any experience with other locations around Avon so I can't recommend something else there. I know there isn't anything really to be done about the layout besides them giving guests a map when they check-in. The breakfast they could definitely do something about if they so choose. Prep work needs to...
Read moreWorst experience I have ever had at a hotel! I was there for work and my company paid for the rooms for my co-workers and I. When we arrived at the hotel, we were NOT greeted with any friendliness or professionalism and spent 45 minutes to get our rooms, because the front desk lady kept saying the business card was denied. My boss paid for the rooms through Orbitz so that we had them reserved a head of time. We presented the lady with receipts and a confirmation number and she still would not accept it. During our 45 minute wait for our rooms, another customer walks in and the lady said that her business card was also declined. Maybe the problem here is their system and they should get it checked out!?! Also, there was no where to go to the bathroom in the lobby, because both restrooms were out of order. The glass skylight was leaking water as it rained and they had a bucket in the middle of the walk way to catch water. They finally let us go to our rooms while they check out our company card situation... we get our room cards. The lady then proceeds to tell us that we have to walk all the way around the building to get in, because of constructions on the building. Already frustrated, we walk all the way around and none of our key cards would open the door to the hotel building! The hotel was very dirty and not kept. The wallpaper was peeling off of the walls in the room I was staying in. The elevator was very shaky and at one point, completely stopped while going up to our floor and the door would not open. We thought we were stuck and it was a very scary experience. The internet/Wi-Fi was very slow and did not work very well. We were never told when breakfast was being served and it was not written on the envelope that held our room keys. Went to breakfast 3 minutes before it officially opened (not knowing when it was open but food was out) and an employee was VERY rude about us looking at the food to decide what we wanted. Needless to say, we did not eat breakfast at that hotel our entire stay. During checkout, we were never asked how our stay was and the printed receipt showed one of our rooms was charged double! I, nor my co-workers do not recommend this hotel to anyone! The only positive thing about the Comfort Inn in Avon is that it was convenient for...
