Dewar's Candy Shop — Restaurant in Bakersfield

No longer worth the money. Customer service at this location is non-existent. Our family has been coming here for over 40+ years, average 4 orders of $60.00 or more a month. Today was our last time ordering from Dewars. I recommend you take your business elsewhere. Thanks Maricela for being rude, lacking customer service and having no concept of professionalism. You ensured we take our business somewhere else and encourage others to do the same. Throughout the years Dewars has gotten orders wrong (it happens) and always offered to make it right. It's the right thing to do and keeps your customers coming back. Today they got an order wrong again and we called to let them know. They said a manager would call us back. It took over an hour and half to call us back. The manager Maricella acknowled she personally got the order wrong yet refused to fix the order. Really? She then proceeded argue and refuse to fix the issue no idea why. Even after she admitted she got the order wrong. Are you kidding me? Most places tell you sir/ma'am sorry about that we will make it right next time, not her unbelievable! Her pride would not allow her to just offer to fix the order. I hope the owners see this post!! I have to believe they would not agree how she handled this matter.  Especially during this time when businesses are struggling and customer loyalty is what will keep them going. I asked her to pass my information to the owner I doubt she will.  Save your hard earned money go to Rosemary's better customer service, great ice cream and tell...

Stopped here while I'm visiting the town. I sampled their English Toffee ice cream. That's a winner if you can have nuts. Big chunks of toffee. Got a pint of that. They only sell pints in their special plastic containers so it's a bit pricey but you only live once. If I was going to eat it right away I would have just purchased a cone which seemed like the best deal. I also bought one of each flavor of chews they make. They do sell them individually. 8 in total. Though they do have 3 Sugar free ones too. I loved the Caramel and the Peanut Butter the best. Peppermint a close 3rd. Then, in their freezer section they do carry containers of half gallon ice cream but those do not fit in my RV freezer unfortunately, As well as, frozen bananas covered in chocolate and some in nuts and have Dubai Chocolate bars filled with Pistachio ice cream. Those sounded better than they were. The pistachio ice cream wasn't very flavorful. It's one of my favorite flavors of ice cream too so I had high expectations. And for $10.25. Just not worth it at all. So, that was a bummer. So all and all would recommend coming here for a cone or sundae and some chews if...

We received a 2 lb box of chews with assorted flavors for Christmas. The chews had so much wax in them that we were scraping wax from our teeth. The chews are wrapped in wax paper so I get that they can have a waxy taste, but this was literally melted wax and chunks of wax inside the chews. It was so disappointing since I have been going to Dewar's for ice cream and chews since I was a child, which is over 50 years.

What was even more disappointing was the response I got when I called in to report it. They said the best they could do was send out a 12oz box to replace my 2lb box. They seemed completely unconcerned for the quality of their product, for my bad experience, or for a possible problem with one or more of their batches.

I told them to keep their 12oz box and that I would no longer be a customer. It's kind of heartbreaking to be honest. Dewar's has been part of our family tradition for so long. I could 100% understand them having an issue with a batch, and easily forgive it. But not standing behind their product and not making it right for the customer by replacing their original order is unforgivable....
