My food was very delicious and my cousin finished all her food. Our server was very nice and took our orders right away since we already picked what we wanted from the menu. Our server gave us our drinks we ordered and when she started to walk away, but I wanted to ask about cornbread for me and my cousin. I could see our server looking straight ahead but I could see the side of her and her eyes, and she rolled her eyes, like, "What now"?! Because she put the drinks down and started to walk away fast so my cousin didn't have the chance to say, she wanted to order cornbread. I know it's something minor but to us, Marie Callender's is known for the delicious pies and cornbread and the honey butter. We're not old little ladies, it's like comfort food to us. I thought, Wow! That was uncalled for, for her look bothered. Of course I didn't say anything to her because she was very nice and so was the other young lady who brought us our food. I think my cousin asked for her cornbread when we first ordered, but our server didn't bring it. That's when I asked her for my cousin. I've been going to Marie Callender's with my family since the 80s when I grew up in Torrance, CA. I'm sad that location is closed and gone, and only one left in Gardena, CA where my mom lives and I take there whenever I can visit her. But I never had a server look annoyed. She wasn't far away and I didn't say, "Excuse me, excuse me"! We were very polite to her. I don't know her name and I don't want to get her fired at all. But when we pay money to have a delicious meal at any establishment, we don't want a server, waiter or waitress, look like we're bothering them. If we were bothering her, it wasn't demanding or rude, we just wanted cornbread. I remember it was always given to us but did the rules change that we have to order it separately? Plus, it wasn't busy but was thar MC's short handed and she just forgot? I'll still keep supporting Marie...
Read moreI've now waited WKS to get a refund, but NOTHING!...so here is my review (wish I could give ZERO STARS!)....on a home delivery, they sent me MOLDED pie slice! so I contacted email address on corp. site and requested refund on it, only for days to go by without reply...I couldn't call because had no phone min's left at the time. Then after I filed complaint with BBB I FINALLY get reply telling me there is no more 'corp'...all now indep. owned, and that I'm now suppose to phone in my complaint to them! when I already explained the ENTIRE issue via the BBB complaint (as well as in my initial email)....so all I wanted was the pie $6 refund (which certainly didn't cover the time wasted as well as the embarrassment I went thru when I served that pie to a visitor's child, only to then see the mold when child went to start eating it!). I emailed back a copy of the complaint, and stated again that i had no phone min's to call them with, and again all I needed was a refund of my $6 (and an apology would have been nice!) ....I got neither....no reply other than their message on BBB saying "she didn't call us back". Will NEVER set foot in their restaurant again!....No wonder Marie Calender's went bankrupt, and now these indep. places have ZERO Health monitoring! They are SUPPOSE to be in the business of selling quality pies, but obviously have decided to just take OLD EXPIRED PIES, cut them up and sell them as 'entrée sides'! DEPLORABLE! (as is their NON EXISTENT Customer Service....aka: NON SATISFACTION Customer Service - we teach our employees to NOT CARE!)
UPDATE : Mid-Oct, I finally received resolution for refund of pie issue (& thank you for the generous refund -I only wished it hadn't of turned into such an ordeal, but appreciate your follow up). will watch reviews and if customer reviews start to go up, will consider being a customer again (just...
Read moreMarie Callender's has surely dropped on my list of favorite places to go. We had a party of 23, which we made a reservation for, and they were not prepared for our arrival. They misplaced the reservation & did not have us listed as coming even though we had changed the number of people coming a few days prior & they still had the reservation listed at that time. The service was mediocre at best. We had to wait long periods between drinks, most of the time requesting the service. We had to make requests several times at some points before getting fulfilled. We basically ate being ignored by our server the entire dinner unless we went and found her for help. The food was a gamble. Some people enjoyed their meal while others had over seasoned or overcooked meals. They were out of various desserts that we wanted to enjoy after dinner, which was disappointing since they are well know for their pies. The building has a disgusting odor that is reminiscent of a homeless camp & it feels dingy and dirty. My family used to really enjoy eating out there but now they hardly deserve the forced gratuity. Anyhow I really hope there are some changes made to bring it back to a respectful place to serve families decent...
