Honestly, was not at all expecting what we got. It's a solid 5 star place according to Google. Coffee was decent although fairly basic. But the food...there was no flavor in the breakfast other than a load of black pepper in the breakfast potatoes. Omelet was not seasoned not one bit. I actually feel bad leaving this review because patrons (judging by other reviews) seem to enjoy the servers here, so this comment is not about the people. They may very well be lovely. But the food was not seasoned and potatoes were kind of dry which also makes me question the prices.
EDIT: I initially felt bad because I didn't mean to unsult, I just didn't understand the solid 5 star reviews, so I simply left my honest review....but this attitude is DISGUSTING. You must be forgetting that your business is CUSTOMER BASED! No need to tell me to go else where, your food pointed me towards the door first and then this... NO FLAVOR AND RUDE?!?!? I SHOUD BE ASKING FOR MY MONEY BACK!!!! You could have taken this as constructive criticism and considered making some tweaks but no, you chose to go about it this way.. THIS WAS A REALLY DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE. I would not recommend, food can be improved but unfortunately the same can not be said for that personality....

This is a no frill, little cafe tucked at the corner of West 49th and Ave B. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the friendly ladies.
It full of good vibes and delicious food. We both ordered the Turkish Breakfast, which was simple, but delicious! Comes in 2 plates, 1 with 2 eggs, potatoes & sausage, a bit spicy, which I loved! The 2nd plate has crispy bread surrounded by little plates of feta, tomatoes, olives, butter, walnuts, jam/marmalade..what a fun way to sample different sides.
If you are ever around the area, definitely grab a bite here! You will leave with a big smile on your face...
Read moreMy coworker and I visited Cafe Talya today for a quick lunch. The restaurant was very cozy, and welcoming as we walked in.
I ordered the Vegetarian omelet and my co-worker ordered the Talya omelet with potatoes and rye breads on the side. Although I asked them to cook my order without salt, they were more than happy to accommodate- and replaced the side of potatoes with fresh fruits. The owners were very nice and friendly not just to us, but to all customers.
Everything on the menu is made-to-order, which makes sense to their hot and fresh food! The fact that they have an open kitchen makes me worry-free! Also, I saw them squeezing oranges to serve a glass of OJ. :) I will definitely come back this place with other co-workers to try that OJ and some other...
