Melinda needs to retire like right now. I understand that people in her age group sometimes get screwed over and only work jobs for medical insurance or their social security doesn't pay them enough to live. But she should not be working, at least not in a fast-paced location McDonald's in the middle of Bayonne. Let's go through a few things that she has done to me and I have seen her do to other people. I go to McDonald's at least once a week and she's always there and I am able to point something out every single time.
1.) She is very stoic and rude. I've never seen her smile once in the months i've been coming here. If you're a minority she will talk down to you like you're a moron and can't read the menu. She'll suggest cheaper meals assuming you can't afford a regular one and keep saying "oh it's cheaper, oh it's cheaper."
2.) She's unfamiliar with the app and how it works. She'll tell people that they can't get a table tent card unless they order directly from the register/kiosk, not from the app. Saw her scream at a kid for taking a table tent card that ordered from the app and told him "oh you cant do that". Meanwhile the kid literally showed her his phone with the number on it. There's literally an option in the app to select a table number, clearly she doesn't know this.
3.) She's too old to read coupon codes or scan QR codes. She will make you read out the entire code very slowly one number at a time to her instead of the other workers that just scan it or key it in instantly.
4.) She will forget what you ordered as you're ordering it and then be rude about it. Ex: lets say you order two chicken nugget happy meals. She will ask what sauce and lets say you tell her you want honey mustard and ranch. She will get upset and say "ONLY ONE" meanwhile there's 2 meals. Why am I only allowed to get one sauce type if I have 2 separate meals that both contain nuggets? makes no sense.
5.) She's unfamiliar with menu items that have existed for many years. Tried to order a cookie tote. Asked for 13 chocolate chip cookies which I know is the amount. She got angry as if I'm inconveniencing her for ordering. Instead of just keying in the tote which only costs a few dollars, she entered every single cookie individually and tried to charge almost $17 for 13 cookies. Then when you tell her "nevermind, I'll just order at the kiosk" , she gets really angry as if the customer is the one that's the issue. Heard her tell the manager, "oh, he doesn't want it. He doesn't have enough". This isn't the case. I just dont want to pay $17 for 13 cookies when I can have it keyed in properly and pay a third of the price.
6.) If you try to correct her on something that she is clearly wrong about, she will tell you that she's been working there for years, longer than anyone and that she knows what she's talking about. It's like she thinks she's perfect and can't make mistakes. It's very frustrating and I can't do it anymore. I do genuinely feel bad for her. I think she should be home resting and relaxing, not making people's days miserable and stressful.
7.) She is losing the company a ton of money. One day I sat while I ate my food and she is so slow with the register that in the span of 20 minutes while I was eating, I saw at least 8-10 groups of people suck their teeth, get agitated with how long she is taking, and leave and make a comment such as ,"I'm just gonna go to WingStop instead" Obviously a couple dozen people leaving isn't a big deal, maybe a few hundred dollars worth of food at most which is negligible for a huge company like McDonald's, but if I saw that many people get frustrated and leave in the span of 20 minutes, then I can imagine how many people she pisses off during her entire shift.
These are only a few of the things that come to mind at the moment from recent visits. I'm sure if I sat here and really thought about it, I could write a dissertation on many more things that she does....
Read moreI went in to get food when they were hardly busy and there were only but a handful of customers. They had called out my number while there was a girl in red in front who just received her order, and the worker was speaking and addressing her. This worker (a big Latino girl) said nothing to me when I reached the counter but stated that I had to wait for one more item in my order to the other workers. I then waited for her to come back with a small cup with a less that topped off cup of my drink and she just slid to me though for the girl standing in front of her she placed it. Then she walks off not saying anything. Before I interacted with her I noticed she had a bit of an attitude but I did nothing to her didn’t speak with her nor did I offend her. You don’t treat your customers like this. And on top of this it’s like my food was thrown in the bag. There was another light skinned employee who got my cookies and just handed it to me not saying a word. That’s disrespectful. You’re under no obligation to engage in conversation with me yes, but as a customer I would appreciate being addressed when you do it to another customer that looks like you. My litter sister even waved at her but I still felt complete and utter disappointment in the service I received.
Management please train or retrain your employees on customer service. The way I felt I was treated was as a nobody. I didn’t want to think of it as a race issue but this calls into question what was the reason for such treatment. All the fair skinned customers you spoke to, me being Carmel brown you said nothing. There’s brown skin Latinos too so treating someone different for the color of their skin is horrible. I saw your manager was brown too so employees you need to re-evaluate yourselves if that’s what you’re about. If this was a misunderstanding then again please just retrain them on at least being kind to every customer not just a select few. And if you’re wondering it was Sunday 3/20/22 around the 6pm hour I was there in gray. You may not lose much with losing one customer but do not expect me to go...
Read moreBy far the worst McDonald’s in Bayonne. First of all, ever since they opened, they have been a disaster and have fallen short of the standards that Bayonne residents had set for themselves after waiting months for the distinctive McDonald's EXPERIENCE. IM HEATED. Second, the food has been subpar since the first day. There is no effective organizational structure there, and people are scattered all over the place.
Even though they have a large kitchen, a conveyer belt, and many other cutting-edge devices, they still have a number of drinks that are simply sitting on the side. Not to mention that the staff is constantly disorganized. The only reason they are processing orders with efficiency is because of one wonderful guy who is always the first to take someone's order.
I have a lot to say about the food quality, so let's get started. For one, i’m not sure who they chef is by they need to be terminated active IMMEDIATELY.
There hasn’t been a single time where I revived my food and it wasn’t messed up in one way or other. It’s always burnt fries here, messed up chicken nuggets there, sloppy big mac here and on and on and ON. However, the chicken nuggets that I received on June 21st, 2022 tarnished my view on this McDonald’s forever.
The nuggets were burned beyond salvaging and were inedible, as you can see in the picture below. I also got french fries, but all I got were the tiny ends and nibs. Nobody would assume those are McDonald's chicken nuggets from that picture. The sad part is that practically everyone's chicken nuggets were charred and unidentifiable when I walked around the store that day.
I'm sorry to see that their business has gotten to this point, but I can assure you that I won't continue to support this particular location until they get their...
