Excited to support a local restaurant during the pandemic, I called in an order for three sandwiches from Valentine's Deli. After ordering, I asked if I could do curbside pickup, as I had my kids in the car with me, snow on the ground, parking is tough there... or you know, the fact that they advertise they do curbside pickup on their website... BECAUSE, COVID. The man on the phone quickly changed his tune and annoyingly said, "hold on, let me finish with a customer before taking payment." He then put the phone down and proceeded to complain to the in-person customer (and I overheard) "Oh, she wants to do curbside because she has her kids with her. I have a 3 year old and I just leave him/her in the car." - COOL, thanks. Thanks for making me feel bad about asking for a service you so clearly advertise that you offer? Strangest experience ever. Worst customer service experience ever. Especially during a pandemic. Don't go here if you want to...
Read moreMy absolute favorite spot for sandwiches in town! They use Sparrow Bakery hoagies which are incredible, and everything is super fresh and made to order. They are very indulgent and kind about substitutions (which I always have to request for my picky husband), but I like the sandwiches as is. My favorite is the pastrami or the hot Italian. The hot Italian I have to share because it's so huge and there's just no saving it - it has vinegar dressing and can get sloppy if you don't eat it all right away. Follow their instagram for random closings, soup flavors and special sandwiches they come up with like the RBG which was SO YUM.
They also make different soups from scratch and carry Tim's brand chips. Their swag and merchandise is adorable and has that 80s/vintage-y flair. I highly recommend calling in your order or ordering online ahead of time because the line can get long and they are super popular...
Read moreI've eaten at valentines probably 10 times in the 2 years I've lived in bend and I'm a huge fan! I love a good Italian sandwich and they nailed it! Staff has been very nice and accommodating. My wifevs body has an intolerance to onions so not a full blown allergy, she won't die but will be very uncomfortable. So I ordered her sandwich without onions, wait a few minutes to get the sandwiches and one of the staff came around and asked me if I left the onions off for an allergy because they didn't see initially that the sando shouldn't have onions so they picked them off. But if it was an allergy they wanted remake the sandwich to avoid an issue. I told them that onions touching the sandwich and removed would be fine for her and there was no need to remake the sandwich and be wasteful but I very much appreciated...
