Parakeet Café in Beverly Hills is a welcome surprise transcending dietary labels. Im not vegan but loved their plant-based menu items and exceptional coffee. The café’s commitment to quality is evident--I love the free soda and filtered water on tap and the real glassware provided for drinks. Enough drinking and eating out of plastic!
The menu is a vibrant tapestry of flavors and textures. The non-Vegan “All I Avo Wanted” dish - blue corn waffle topped with smashed avocado, feta, a perfectly cooked over-easy egg, chili flakes, hemp seeds, and salsa macha, is ahhhmazing. The “Parakeet Bowl,” a hearty mix of brown rice, roasted mushrooms, sesame collard greens, pickled cucumbers, and almond butter miso mayo, offers a satisfying and flavorful experience. For those departing from all veg aspects - the “Best Burger Ever” lives up to its name with grass-fed Australian beef, organic cheddar, caramelized onions, and house-made pickles on a brioche bun...mmhmm.
The beverage selection is equally impressive. Their locally roasted coffee beans shine in drinks like the Honey Cinnamon Latte and the Lavender Matcha Latte. For a wellness boost, the Blue Magic Latte, infused with reishi, ashwagandha, spirulina, and honey vanilla--tasty even though I mainly steer clear of sweet in my coffee.
Parakeet Café’s ambiance is bright, stylish interior (too bright???) with bold parakeet wallpaper that would make my grandma proud. All in all a nice enough and certainly welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience.
In a city loaded with dining options, Parakeet Café sets itself apart with its commitment to quality, sustainability, and flavor. It’s a place where both vegans and non-vegans can find dishes to love, making it a worthy addition to anyone’s list of go-to spots in...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience at Parakeet Café. From the moment I sat down, several large fruit flies and regular flies were crawling into my salad, while I was actively eating it. I repeatedly had to swat them away, and even saw other guests doing the same. After seeing multiple bugs actually crawling in my salad I was understandably disturbed. I notified the staff, expecting basic concern or a solution.
Instead, I was met with a dismissive and frankly insulting response: “Well, it’s meant to be eaten right away,” as if scarfing down the salad faster than my regular eating speed would magically prevent such a blatant health code violation. I politely asked if they could give me a fresh one to go since my meal was now inedible. They refused, saying it would “waste food”—which is absurd, considering it was already ruined and inedible.
There was no apology, no accountability, and the staff’s attitude was hostile, implying it was somehow my fault this happened. I mentioned my table was near the kitchen and the countless flies were clearly already in the area and it wasn’t as though they arrived for my plate specifically only to be told, “We don’t know that.” Mind you several flies were flying around us and over my table during the discussion which I pointed out. He acted as though it didn’t matter at all rather than having the basic decency to acknowledge that this shouldn’t be the experience any customer has at a restaurant.
Then he refused to provide a manager’s contact when I asked. Totally unbelievable. Between the lack of hygiene, the fruit flies swarming the food, and the staff blaming the customer instead of taking responsibility, this place is not just disappointing—it’s unsanitary and unacceptable.

Read moreI am deeply disappointed with my experience at Parakeet Cafe on July 18th around 9:50-10:00 a.m. I urgently needed to use the restroom and politely asked the staff member at the front counter. Despite offering to make a purchase immediately after, I was told I could not use the restroom until I had paid. When I emphasized the urgency, the staff member rudely stated, "We don't want anybody off of the street to come use the restroom."
As a Black woman, I felt humiliated and degraded by this insinuation. To make matters worse, there were no signs in the cafe indicating that restrooms are for paying customers only. I had to leave in distress and run to my workplace to avoid an embarrassing situation. Though the manager later offered me a pastry and coffee, it did little to alleviate the frustration and humiliation I experienced.
Additionally, I reached out to the corporate office via email to address this incident and have not heard a response in over two weeks. This lack of communication further demonstrates their disregard for customer concerns.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable. I hope the management takes immediate action to address this issue and train their staff to handle such situations with empathy and respect. Until then, I cannot recommend...
