I'm very unhappy with Big Bear Experiences' management abilities.
I live across the street from a cabin they manage, and their Big Bear Experiences placard is hung out front with their number in full view. A smoke alarm has been beeping every 30 seconds for the last few days to alert that the battery is dead. I've been calling the management company to address this issue, and instead of coming over to see for themselves, in my opinion, they chose to gaslight me and tell me that the sound is coming from a different cabin. Currently, the cabin is for sale, and in hopes of fixing the smoke alarm, I contacted the real estate agency. They took my complaint very seriously and immediately replaced the old alarm. The alarm had a 10-year time stamp and expired over 6 months ago. The chirp was a fault error alerting that the battery is near dead, and the alarm will soon be inoperable. Given the extreme fire risk of a faulty alarm, you would think that Big Bear Experiences would want to protect their client and change the smoke alarm ASAP. That was not the case here. Instead, they chose to make me out to be the bad guy and informed me that the problem doesn't exist.
If you're looking for a competent management company for your STR, look elsewhere.
EDIT: Google will not let me respond to their reply. Again, you can see that they are continuing to gaslight me. The smoke alarm was in the digout, and it was deafening and obnoxious. In my opinion, had they shown up at the property, they would have heard that the alarm was going off. I'm not here to disrupt or defame their business, but to inform new and existing customers of their lack of care.
The selling agent immediately called me back and came out to address the issue. I was present with the agent when they opened the digout door to find the beeping alarm. It took a total of 2 minutes to address the issue. As a homeowner, this is basic maintenance. Below are the photos and a video of the broken alarm. Please stop gaslighting me and own up to your lack of management, or better yet, learn from your mistake and work hard to not repeat this with others. We moved here to get away from the noise of the city, surely we are not the only ones who value peace. I will update my review to two stars for your...
Read moreWe had the BEST time at Gray Wolf Lodge during our 3-day weekend getaway with friends (5 adults and 2 babies). This place is so cozy, spacious, and super clean! The kitchen is a dream – big enough for all of us to cook and prep meals together without stepping on each other’s toes. The dining area? Wow, the view of the lake is just stunning – so peaceful and zen.
The living room was just as inviting as it looks in the photos – modern, comfy, and everything worked perfectly. Having a bedroom and bathroom downstairs was a lifesaver since we had a baby with us. No constant running up and down the stairs – we were grateful for that!
The bedrooms were so cozy and well-organized, although I will say the mattresses were on the softer side. If you have lower back pain, you might want to consider the couch (which was also super comfy).
The bathrooms were spotless, and they really thought of everything – towels, shampoo, and all the essentials were stocked and ready.
And we absolutely loved Bryan! He was super quick to respond to any questions we had and was incredibly accommodating with whatever we needed. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better host. He even checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our stay.
The location is perfect – just 3-5 minutes from The Village and everything you need (groceries, coffee, bakery), plus there’s a Tesla supercharger nearby. As a Tesla owner, I was a little worried about where I’d charge, but this was so convenient!
All in all, this place was just perfect for our group. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy, beautiful, and convenient spot...
Read moreThe host was kind and let us check in early, which we appreciated. The cabin looked just like the photos and was in a great location near the village and restaurants.
Unfortunately, several issues affected our stay. First, the front door key got stuck in the doorknob and couldn’t be removed all weekend. We reached out to the host right away, but his only suggestion was to “wiggle it.” After that, there was no follow-up or solution—it felt like we were brushed off, and it left us feeling uneasy the entire stay.
Even more upsetting was receiving a $500 city citation at 5:50 PM for a noise complaint while simply watching TV with the sliding door open. We weren’t loud, had no music playing. The officer and property manager explained that because the cabin is a corner lot at higher elevation, sound travels farther. We truly wish the host had warned us about this in advance—especially since he reminded us to close the doors to avoid moths. That kind of heads-up could’ve saved us a lot of stress. After reaching out again, we felt dismissed with a generic “keep doors closed and be mindful” response, without any real help or acknowledgment.
From then on, we didn’t feel comfortable using the balcony or relaxing outside, which really impacted the trip.
There were also cleanliness issues: dirty dishes, stained walls, dusty surfaces, and a very dirty coffee maker. WiFi was unreliable and we had to use our own hotspot to stream anything.
This cabin has potential, but the lack of communication, poor follow-up, and cleanliness made our stay more stressful than it...
