Old Country Inn — Restaurant in Big Bear Lake

Here's the good and the bad. The first time trying this place out, I had the Monty Christo. It was not what i expected from a MC. Their MC was soft and limp with french toast as the sandwich bread. I was expecting it more like an old school Bennigan's Christo that is dipped and deep fried. The sandwich was a C-, the onion rings on the side were a B- grade. My friends had the All American burgers and they looked great.

The next day we went back and I got the All American burger. That was good size and fresh! A good size meat patty, fresh veggies to put on the burger and it was a good tasting burger. For this meal it was an A grade. The beginning service was good, but for both days, at the end of the meal, our waitress was hardly seen. We had to wait some time after the meal to see her and get asked if we wanted something else.

...and lastly.... We were first there on a Friday and the Friday special was all you can eat fish & chips for under $20. When asked about it, the waitress said they didn't have it and it was the resteraunt next door. So instead of going back and forth with the language barrier, we ordered something else. Then on our return on Saturday, the special was like a NY stip steak. We asked about that and the same waitress said yep they have it and asked us if we wanted to order it. How do you advertise a special of the day and pick and choose what you have to serve????

Anyways the burger we good! Better than what Snow Summit servers on...

Very disappointing experience. The service was TERRIBLE! We were stuck there for over 2 hours! Food was bland, my sandwich was inedible and overpriced. The bread was rock hard on both mine and my husbands sandwiches. It took an hour for our food to be delivered and half of it was cold. There were no other customers there when we left, yet my husband had to search the place just to pay. The server spilled juice all over my legs and feet, was very apologetic but became increasingly rude as time went on. Got irritated when I asked for a refill on my drink after I asked him 20 mins before and he forgot. This is our last day vacationing up here and the time we wasted sitting there was infuriating. We missed our boat tour, had to drive back to our cabin to change clothes, wash our feet and shoes. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If the service is this bad during their slowest hours of business, I can't imagine how bad it would be when busy. Not worth your time...

Took my mother, girlfriend, and daughter in for breakfast. The server was wonderful. Good conversation, and made us all feel at home. The food was insanely good. The German breakfast was absolutely insane. Big bockwurst, pile of kraut, eggs cooked exactly how I ordered. Set chorizo burrito is easily worth more than what they ask for, huge, awesome potatoes in there, perfection. Mom ended up with a build your own omelette, country potatoes on the side. Everything cooked and seasoned beautifully. The kiddo had the pancake combo for kids, she ate almost every bite. This restaurant was a staple for me growing up and remains that today. Prices are definitely a bit high like everywhere else, but what you get, and how hospitable they are, i am more than willing to come back and pay. Thank you old country inn!!! ALSO MAKE SURE YOU...
