OWNER TRIED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOMEONE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
My individual (Dave), who has autism, was ordering his food when, who I assume is the owner, rushed out of the door with what I observed as attitude. He listened, and before the lady at the register could put the order in, Ben rudely moved her out of the way and told her to go to the back. Now, once he put everything in, the total came out to $24 and some change. On the menu, it says "$10.99 for sandwich, fries and drink included." So I questioned it. Ben stated that it was Dave's fault that he's putting the order in as he says it. In Ben's words: "it's not me, it's him." Then he tried to claim that it was that much because Dave ordered a side outside of that, when again....ON THE MENU IT SAYS $1 SMALL SIDE. Proceeded to say, "we don't do that anymore." If that's the case, why waste our time AND yours? Anyway, I left after his continuous rudeness (Dave only brought twenty and couldn't afford this "new price"), and now Dave's upset, because he really wanted to eat there....
Read moreThe employee behind the counter couldn't have cared less if I was there or not and near impossible to communicate with, as in getting them to talk was like pulling teeth. I should have walked away after that because the food was nearly inedible. My pulled pork sandwich was like soup from the amount of sauce and was embarrassing to try and eat in public and required a fork, not to mention the flavors were all wrong. I think there was pickle relish and not pickles? It was minced and made that part of the meat truely taste like vomit and i had to eat around it. I got a side of Mac and cheese. It was old as part of it was hard and dried out like it had been sitting for a long time, but they had just opened. Did I get yesterday's mac and cheese? It also didn't taste right, like you expect mac and cheese to taste. I did not ask for a refund. I picked thru what I could and I...
Read moreMy wife and I ate at Big Ben’s twice on our vacation. The 1st day she had the cabbage and it was really good. I had a pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and a sweet tea. The 2 day my wife had a large cabbage again and I had a beef brisket combo with yams and broccoli casserole. Overall we enjoyed our food with the casserole, cabbage, and brisket(in that order) being the best of what we had. We also thought Ben provided good service both days. The negatives were the sweet tea being old, and the yams being overly sweet. Based on other reviews it seems that Big Ben is inconsistent with the taste of his food, it’s either really good or average. Based on our own experience, we would eat there again when in town. I do recommend giving him a try if you are in or around the mall and have a craving...
