The apple pies aren't the only thing baked at this McDonald's.
Went in last night at about 9:00 PM for dinner and ordered two quarter pounders with cheese and french fries that I requested fresh with no salt. Sitting at the table talking to my mother, we had our tray dropped and slid in front of us from behind the separation behind our booth.
Immediately, I took the French fries back up to the counter as they were hard to the touch and dark in color like the oil was old.
As I'm telling the manager, Dylan, that the fries weren't fresh and far from visually appealing, the same guy** that dropped the tray comes from behind the kitchen yelling at me that they were just dropped and very fresh. I had just got into town after an 8 hour drive from Central Florida and wasn't in the mood for someone with his attitude to raise his voice at me so I immediately got just as loud suggesting it wasn't a good idea for him to act up like that.
Dylan did make us another order, which really didn't look any better and I asked if maybe the oil was just needing to be changed because when people think McDonald's French fries, they think fresh, golden and hot which these were absolutely not. He told me that the owner doesn't want the oil wasted or changed for no less than at least 9 days.
Although Dylan did replace our order, he did request that I submit a survey for the restaurant. Apparently he doesn't care if the 5 stars go towards the restaurant review because he told us that he cared more about his bonus that he gets for positive reviews.
We sat there for about 20-25 minutes and within that whole time, I would say that maybe 2-3 customers came in for orders to go. Apparently this location has a reputation for the bad service we received because with this location in a tourist area, there should be customers in and out constantly. The only other two people in the dining area were there charging their phones and filling their cups they brought from outside with soda.
At 9:20 PM, as I'm walking outside to my car, there was a teal colored Mazda M3 parked right next to me with at least 3 of the employees that were on shift during my visit HOT BOXING the car parked right in front of the main entrance. They all looked at us through the windshield and just sat still thinking maybe we couldn't see the smoke that was filling the entire car. Not only could we see it, but the smell was pouring out into the air. I honestly could care less about them smoking a blunt on break or if they were off, but to have that little of respect for your job to be parked right up front and in uniform is just careless. At least go park by the dumpster or in the back of the store.
I've been coming to Biloxi/Gulfport from Florida for the last 5 years and used to come to this location all the time because the service was really good. I drove here last night from Island View where I stay because I thought the service was still worth the trip. Had I known how terrible it is now, I could have just driven around the corner to the McDonald's on 49 where I at least know to expect bad service and could have saved gas and time.
On top of all that, the crew needs to learn there's a time and pace to work and goof off. The whole time we were there, they were in the kitchen joking around going in and outside, which now I know why. Dylan does have the possibility of being a good manager but he needs to understand that his job is to expedite service not be buddy buddy with his crew.
**Unfortunately I didn't catch the other guy's name and I hate a generic description but he was the black guy with glasses...
Read moreI recently visited this McDonald's location and had a disappointing experience, both at the drive-thru and inside the restaurant. Upon arriving, I asked the employee over the speaker if they still served the 20-piece nugget, as it had been a while since I'd been to McDonald's. Rather than answering my question, the person on the speaker repeatedly responded with "What sauce?" which left me confused.
After this confusing exchange, I decided to go inside. It was difficult to find anyone willing to help, so I placed my order at the kiosk. Once my order was ready, I went up to the counter and asked if they could make the nuggets fresh. The manager, Dylan, responded curtly, saying, "I am waiting on nuggets, so I guess they are going to be fresh." I then saw someone pull the nuggets from a warming cabinet and place them in the box.
When I received my bagged order, Dylan handed it over without a word or any friendliness. While I waited to get a cup for my drink, I overheard him repeatedly telling other employees to get off the clock, with a tone that sounded more like a demand than a request. When some younger employees arrived, he commented on their lateness, to which one of them calmly explained she’d already informed him of the situation.
As for my drink, I noticed that the sweet tea container had no lid. I looked around but couldn’t find one, all while hearing Dylan's ongoing complaints to the front-line employees. After getting my drink, I asked if this was a corporate location or owned by a franchisee (the Descher organization), and I received a cold response as he seemed to stare at me on my way out.
To improve the customer experience at this McDonald's location, focusing on communication, attitude, and attentiveness would make a significant difference. When customers have questions, especially at the drive-thru, staff should respond clearly and patiently to avoid confusion, creating a more welcoming atmosphere. A friendly approach(especially from management) sets a positive tone and shows respect for both customers and employees. Handling requests for fresh food with transparency and a positive attitude can also enhance trust and satisfaction. Fostering a respectful, supportive environment for employees, especially younger staff members, could improve morale, communication, and efficiency. If you are having an issue with an employee I would suggest not to be doing it on the front line where customers can hear it. These changes would likely leave customers with a much more positive impression.
I will be contacting Chris in the morning about the experience and the Descher Organization about...
Read moreHorrible experience. This has to be one of the absolute WORST and most APPALLING McDonald's stores around. My experience: I sat at the drive through speaker box for about 10mins before someone very rudely came over saying, "Whatchu want?" I ordered an Oreo McCurry and my girlfriend a medium Mocha Frappe with no whip cream. The response was, "K, pull forward and don't stop at the first window." I sat in line again for another 10mins. I counted 9 cars who just pulled out of line and left. The wait was horrible and after watching people give bags back and take some more and then just sit there waiting it was finally my turn. I get to the window and the man rattles off some order, probably from someone who left because of the wait, and I said no sir I ordered an Oreo McCurry and a medium Mocha Frappe with no whip cream. He looked furious, looked at the screen and said I never got that order. You didn't order in line, drive around or come inside. At this point I was pretty upset and I said "No, someone took my order." I then told him about how many people were leaving because of how slow they were. He snapped his head around to a different girl behind him, I'm guessing the manager, who herself stuck her chin out and planted her hand on her hip and said, "What now?" He told her that he didn't take the order, but I said someone did and I wasn't leaving. She snacked her lips, through her hands up in the air and said "Then just make it, why are you standing there??" Anyways after all of this 5 more mins went by and we got our order. My Oreos weren't even blended in, they just out them on top of the ice cream and the Mocha Frappe was half full and they just Squirted the chocolate on top, didn't even mix it up. At this I had had enough, my girlfriend was flustered, I was pretty upset, 4 more cars had left the line and I just held my tongue, paid and left. My experience was unprofessional by all hands, except the man at the window who seemed like he was just caught up in the middle of whatever was going on. His attitude seemed more towards the other workers. But all in all, total unsatisfactory for food for the time given. And I will note that there were maybe 10 people inside eating, they weren't 'busy'. The outside was a mess as well. There was trash everywhere, dumpster doors open and a foul smell in the air... Im going to have a hard time finding myself visiting this...
