Finally a trendy Cantonese style pot in Boston.
Came here this past Friday for an early dinner. It was raining, so we didn’t expect much of a crowd, but we ended up snagging the last available table. The menu was simple: a main fish/beef pot with optional add-ons and a small selection of side dishes.
I’ve only had a Cantonese style pot once before, so I went off my colleague’s recommendation and added a few sides on the fly. Everything was satisfying overall, but we did wish they offered a split pot option for more diversity in flavor.
The Signature Tasty Pot (Fish & Beef) was milder than I expected. Instead of punchy heat or pickled mustard greens, the broth was delicate and easy on the palate. It didn’t quite have the punch or excitement of a spicier broth, but still enjoyable and comforting. Portions were enormous, and two of us weren’t able to finish a small pot.
From the sides, the Spiced Chicken with chili sauce was my favorite. Cold, fatty chicken draped in a classic Sichuan-style chili oil. The kind you usually see on wontons. Since the broth itself was clean and light, this dish filled in the flavor spectrum with some nice heat and umami.
The Crispy Fried Pork Belly was exactly what I expected: crunchy, salty bites with a side of chili seasoning powder. Simple and a good textural contrast to the pot. The Spicy sour Fern starch noodles had a touch more heat than the noodles in the broth and were tasty on their own. However, if you’re already adding noodles to the pot, they can feel a little redundant.
Overall, a solid addition. Would definitely come back when I’m craving for some...
Read moreThis place is genuinely very good, probably my top 3 Asian cuisine restaurant in Boston right now. We came today late on a Friday night and waited about 30 mins. You can put your name down at the front and walk around the area while waiting. The restaurant is very clean and has great seating. The waiters are super nice, as well very proactive and pays attention to details. I forgot to ask for names but thank you to the four that served us tonight :).
We got the combo for 4 with the signature spicy sour base with fish and beef. It comes with 4 add-ons and 4 sides. I highly recommend getting the sweet rice stuffed lotus and house made sticky rice cake as sweet sides/desserts. The fried donut and fish skin are delicious when you put them into the soup as well. The quantity was very generous and we had everything packed to-go. The container they pack the soup in can be directly heated over certain stove types.
I'll definitely be coming back! (Pls consider opening a location...
