My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "A Good Cup in a Great Spot"
Prompt and Pleasant Service: 🙋♂️ The service at Central Perk was exactly what you'd expect at a bustling cafe—efficient and straightforward. The staff were friendly enough, ensuring a smooth experience from order to pickup.
Unexpectedly Stunning Decor: 🎨 Despite having no personal nostalgia for the "Friends" theme, I was taken aback by how visually appealing the cafe is. The vibrant color scheme of orange and green brought a lively, energetic vibe that's both study-friendly and perfect for social gatherings. The neon signs and thoughtful layout make it an Instagram-worthy destination, regardless of its TV show inspiration.
Standard Fare with a Gourmet Flair: 🍽️ While the lattes were pretty standard, they were well-executed. Though not groundbreaking, the coffee provided a solid, enjoyable experience. It's the kind of consistency you'd want for a daily coffee run.
Reflecting on the Central Perk Experience: 🤔 This cafe beautifully balances theme with taste. While the food and drink may not be revolutionary, the environment and service elevate the ordinary to something much more enjoyable.
Final Thoughts and Recommendations: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "Good Vibes, Good Coffee!" "Central Perk Coffee Co isn't just a nod to nostalgia; it's a genuinely charming spot that stands on its own merits. Perfect for fans and newcomers alike, it's a must-visit when you're in Boston's Back Bay."

Read moreI am a huge Friends fan, and have been to Central Perk on Newbury Street a few times. The pros are that it's a nice little space with great customer service. I've had several coffee varieties, and they've always tasted pretty decent to me (We Were On A Coffee Break stands out). The cheesecake is amazing...exactly how you would imagine the one from Mama's Little Bakery would taste like. The moist maker sandwich was just ok. I highly doubt Monica would put mashed potatoes on her sandwich (remember: the secret is a gravy soaked piece of bread in the middle)!
So far the negatives for me is that there is NEVER a place to sit, unless you want to wait forever for a group of people to leave. I have given up all hope that I'll ever sit on the orange couches (old version or new version). If you resign yourself to the fact that it's just going to be a place to pick up coffee, it can be a little confusing as to where you should stand and wait for your drink. It always feels like you're in the way or dodging other customers. Other nitpicks are: no obvious signs where the bathrooms are, and the large t-shirt I bought (for $35.00!) shrank big time after I washed it and it's full of lint, so maybe not the best quality.
Overall, I think it's a cool idea that they have modernized what a Central Perk chain store would look like in the 2020s, and I'm so happy that my home town is the first location. I look forward to visiting other coffeehouses in other cities, once they pop up. What other (almost) 30-year old TV shows could inspire something like this? Kind of amazing when you...
Read moreCentral Perk Coffee is a charming coffeehouse and café concept that offers a delightful experience for visitors and fans of the TV series, Friends. Great coffee, delicious soup, and a lovely nod to the TV series!
The decor is a standout feature, highlighted by the iconic Friends Orange Central Perk Sofa, coffee cup lights, and an array of seating options that provide a cozy and welcoming setting! Fans can explore a variety of Friends-themed merchandise, including drinkware, apparel, hats, magnets, keychains, and pens. The café also boasts a unique coffee blend aptly named "How You Doin'," from Joey's famous line from the show.
As a cafe, their menu features a selection of beverages and an all-day food offering. The Soup of the Day, which was Chicken Noodle Soup served with a slice of bread was delicious and hearty, while the Iced Mocha from the drinks menu was equally satisfying. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu offerings.
For those looking to work remotely, Central Perk Coffee provides ample seating and space to set up shop. While numerous outlets are available for charging devices, they can be somewhat difficult to navigate. The café tends to attract many tourists, particularly Friends fans, which can lead to a noisy environment near the front order desk and cashier. Additionally, there are a few outdoor seats and a mini patio with...
