Costello's Tavern — Restaurant in Boston

Myself and 2 friends had selected our table at around 6:20 on this Friday night. It took over 20 minutes for us to receive our 3 margaritas, plus a water for myself as my 2 friends already had theirs. With no warning from our server (who passed us multiple times to serve the tables both in front of and behind us, but also never informed us that our plates are being cooked or delayed), our orders came at just after 7:30. I ordered a (well done) burger with 2 patties, but only received one. With cold buns. I informed our server that my burger only came with one patty and cold hamburger buns, only to be told that the bread was cold because I never specifically instructed that I want the bread toasted. Never had that issue anyplace else, but okay. I received the warm bread and additional patty (which was on the house) at least 15 minutes later, but the patty itself felt & tasted rock hard. Also, a large group of people (at least a party of 10) who sat in the table behind us and also came at least 20 minutes after us were served well before we were, and left well before we did, no questions asked. Worst food I’ve had in a while. I ordered their veggies burger and it’s was unacceptable. The way they made it was as if someone just just mashed mixed veggies like carrots and peas into baby food and made a massive meatball out of it and said “i think this is what a veggie burger is????” The inside was cold and raw mashed veggies. Only the outside was cooked because the burger was go big. When I cut it open it looked like gooey baby food. Veggie burgers usually include something that involves protein as a base, since the person ordering it probably doesn’t eat meat, like beans and chickpeas for example and then season and add little things for flavor. Not just make a mashed veggies/ babyfood mix and make something mediocre. I was very disappointed. I took one bite and was very sick afterwards. Never coming here again. This review was edited for a spelling mistake (because I saw it and it was bugging me lol) and the review date was updated to April 2022. Owner's response reflected mid-pandemic for context - probably after they reopened but before fully operating as before. This experience did still happen, and my friend was there as a witness. I almost drank out out of that glass.

Asked for a glass of water with my bottled beer. The waitress scooped some ice into an obviously dirty glass that still had old beer in the bottom. Took about 15 minutes for her to circle back around to us to replace it. Later in the night, it took her so long to get to us so we could order another round that we were basically sober.
