We did not have good customer service experience at Frenchie's on Saturday, May 28th. Let me start by saying we live in the neighborhood, and friends and family have been here many times before, therefore we had the same expectations as previous visits which were good.
The main meal was delivered to all but one in our party, and the others were waiting for my meal to show up before eating, after 5 minutes I told them to eat. Then after 10 minutes my husband got up and talked to the waiter, who came over and was confused, but said he was sorry, and went to kitchen to see where my meal was. I guess it wasn't ordered, therefore he told me that it would take about 4 minutes for my meal to arrive, well 25 min later, he brought over the meal, which was not the correct order at all. I told him so, and then I knew (he was very new, in training I believe) that it would take at least 25 minutes to get my correct order brought to my table. At this point, all the others in my party had already finished their meal. I said to the waiter, I guess I will eat that, but I stated that I I didnt' think I should pay for this mistake and waiting so long for the new (incorrect) meal to arrive at my table. He said no, that I wouldn't have to pay for the meal. Please dont' blame the new waiter for this back customer service, he was very nice, and I know how hard it is to get employees to work these days. Its all the managers doing here.
Well I started eating my meal, I called over the server to make sure I spoke with a manager about the mistaken meal and long wait. I explained to the on duty manager (young woman, on May 28th evening shift), what had happened with the meal. She was very cordial, with a smile, and stated that she "Understood why I was upset, but she could not reimburse me for this huge mistake because "I HAD CONSUMED THIS MEAL". I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it she stated this at least 4 other times, during a lengthy conversation about my being upset about the circumstances surrounding this error, and how I was told that I would have the incorrect meal taken off the bill. She was rude, offered us a round of drinks, or dessert instead, then repeated "YOU CONSUMED THE MEAL", which was not true, since I hadn't ate the entire thing meal yet, and did eat some because it took her while to get to my table to talk with me. Everyone else in my party had long finished their meal. We decided that we didn't want any compensation that the manager offered because of her rudeness. I have never "NOT" been reimbursed by a restaurant if there was a major problem with the service or delivery of the food. How does this make anyone want to return,.. a meal that was going to be thrown out, was it worth that 30 dollars? I'm a neighbor and community member, supporting local restaurants ALL thought he pandemic. I hope this manager thinks it...
Read moreMy July 13th Saturday evening was ruined by the worst hostess in history.
My boyfriend wanted to surprise me withe dinner date and decided to take me to this Backbay establishment. We enter the front door of Frenchie and proceed to sit at the bar...I thought it would be nice to get a table in front since there was clearly 4 tables open and it was 6:20 in the evening.
We proceeded approach the hostess for seating . We got the dirtiest look ever and we immediately thought it was because we were interracial couple since we received this kinda of look often from many who disapprove.
What set me off is when she said in condensing voice let me see if we have tables in the back. Me and my partner look at each other to acknowledge that she was judging us and the "sitting in the back" statement came off racist. She two steps forward not looking at any sheet and said we don't have sitting and would have to sit us outside. She was also training a new hostess and asks the new girl she was training to sit us outside. I wasn't happy but didn't want to upset my partner by making a huge ordeal.
So we proceeded to outside on the top tier tables in the corner as the trainee guided us to do. She served us water and then and stated she will be back.Five minutes later the hostess from hell came back and told her trainee not to sit us there but at the bottom of the stairs by the door away from foot traffic. Me and partner look at each other again to acknowledge that something is definitely wrong here.
We were highly upset that we had to carry our water to the table below... but did so because we want enjoy the French cuisine. 4 minutes later the hostess asks us do want anything to drink and asked for ID. We then proceeded to order drinks, 10 minutes later our drinks arrived. Our hostess procceded to walk away but my lovely partner caught her and said we would like to order. We both order the Steak Frites, his medium rare and mines would be well done. 10 minutes later a waiter came out and put down one plate of food. We asked where is the other plate, the waiter said he would go back to hostess and have her come out. Took her 5 minutes to come out and said in conscending voice did you order two. I just about lost it at this point. My partner took the lead and said Yes. She then proceeded to ask me do I still want it. I said of course, but she didn't ask me how I wanted to cook. Another 10 minutes passes by and me watching my partner eat his food. My food steak frites arrives and well done. I thought it was funny how she didn't ask me the second time how I wanted my steak done.
I would never recommend this place if you're looking for a good meal. It's over-priced and the hostess was rude. If I could this place a zero instead of 1...
Read moreI was looking forward to enjoying brunch at such a highly rated place but was sadly disappointed and frankly appalled at the horrible service. It left a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel uncomfortable and without want of ordering anything else on the menu even though I came in excited to sample the various dishes.
I came in for Sunday brunch midday with my friend and we were sat at the back of the restaurant. The space is small, decor is lovely and the restaurant is located in a great area.
Honestly I won't speak much on the food because I didn't even get everything I wanted since the waiter only ever bothered to come twice to the table. Once to get our orders the first time and the second to bring over the check (we wanted separate checks but we were completely over the place so we just split it ourselves after we left).
We spoke more to the bus girl than the actual male server who I'm not sure we even got the name of. She was the one checking in with us most often. She was doing the waiter's job tbh. He never once checked in to see if we got our food, how it tasted, if we wanted anything else, if we wanted another drink, etc. NOTHING!! He abandoned us and wrote us off and I really have to wonder why. Frankly there is no reason why we would have to communicate via the bus girl to have our needs met not that they were. That's not part of her job description and the fact that the waiter disappeared on us speaks a lot towards this establishment itself. I grew up in the area so I know the changes it has been through and I know when I don't feel wanted- this place was that type of place.
We didn't want to leave a tip but we also didn't want to feed into negative stereotypes of POC but that waiter deserved 0% tip and this restaurant 0 stars. Despite my initial excitement to sample the food fares as someone who lived in Paris herself I was excited to visit the so called wine bistro. However, having spent over $100 at a brunch for 2 leaving hungry, frustrated, upset and a myriad of other emotions- this simply WAS NOT WORTH IT!!! I will not be spending my hard earned money at a place that made my friend and I...
