So went here on Saturday just to see what this place was about since my coworkers, and I were suggested to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday. We walk up to the front door and the older gentleman at the door checking ids was such a douche. Place was terrifying small. They had a dj and a live ban. Witch was odd. The food is delicious depending on what you get. Burgers are great, fries soggy, and extremely salty, Extremely expensive for an average palm size plate at close to 20 bucks. Then the antisocial bald rude and disrespectful bartender was just too much. Management completely was garbage and there was a female bouncer who just sat all night on her phone. Then we see this big huge dude walking around with a mean mug. Had to be 100% military, tacking baby steps, moving in and out threw the crowd, out of peopleâs way coming behind him as if he had eyes behind his head or something, using mirrors to watch behind, looking over his shoulders, and looking threw the corner of his eyes I mean this dude saw everything, and heard everything. Dude looking to his right as he walked down stops turn to his left, kneeled picked up a ladies coat that had fallen of her chair. He picked it up , dust it off, put it behind the ladies chair as he said âexcuse me you drop your coatâ with a smile and then walks away before the lady said thank you. Upon doing so he had already walked away but replied âyou are welcomeâ without looking back. I was impressed and attempting to watch this huge dude with a Mohawk made my night. At first I thought this dude probably gay. Then my girlfriend all she did was talk about him. All of a sudden the old guy at the front signal to big dude and we now see big dude at the front with a cigarette. So my girlfriend is like âIâm going outside for fresh air.â Yup I bet you are so I tagged along . Outside my girlfriend attempted to get his attention while making a call in front of him smiling. Dude definitely paid her no mind. Definitely gay Iâm thinking. Then my girlfriend trying to get me going started waving her hand an grazed his genitals. Dude looked at her direction with an intense look and exhale his cigarette smoke in a mean demeanor. My girlfriend got unease and walked up to me saying âletâs go babes â. I found this to be a perfect opportunity to play Romeo. So I walked up to him and said âexcuse do you have a problem with my ladie? â He looked at me. Looked st my girl. Looked away. Sucked on his cigarette. Breathe in and replied as he exhale âshe is beautiful. Behave. Understand her. Keep your ego in check. Life continues but trust me it will hurt to see her with another man. â The remark bothered me and me thinking he is gay I replied âwhat will you know?â He replied âI wish my plans of seeing my kids every moment of every day had materialized and the nightmare of another man not me being in the same household with them didnât. I wish I knew what I had. Now Iâm single by choice because the drama of beauty cannot over right what I once had and getting older I appreciate the peace I have in my life. I do this because I love nights, the atmosphere , and is easy money even in not easy days. I will assure you Iâm not here for your ladie, any ladie, or anyone elseâs ladie. I come in I do as asked and go home. For my troubles I get criticized, put down, roll over, belittled, and a weekly check. Thatâs the name of the game in security.â Then he opens and holds the door and says âladies first, gentlemen second, muscle thirdâ and the three of us shared a laugh. I kinda felt bad at this point. my girl apologized for being fresh, and his words made me appreciate my girl more. For a big killing looking machine he is soft spoken, gentle, and nice. My girl and I dislike this place completely. I mean total garbage disguised in new paint and fooled customers with electrifying lights. However we will come by more often just to hang out with this dude. We felt safe, managed to have a good time after all thanks to him. Definitely intimidating. But cool. However I wouldnât suggest investing or even coming to...
Read moreEarlier today I wanted to make a reservation for myself and 5 others for the Bruins game (started at 7) AND UFC Fight (started at 10). I went to make a reservation online and the only reservations they were taking were for the UFC Fight with that window of reservations starting at 9pm (plenty of reservations available). This fight also came with a $15 cover charge per person which we were fine with paying, but didn't make one online because we wanted to go earlier for the Bruins game.
Because of this, I called the restaurant early afternoon to see what I should do since I wanted a table for both events. The guy I talked to was great and said to just come in for the Bruins game because they'd have plenty of tables before the UFC fight, and we'd be good to stay for the fight afterwards as well. I talked to the same guy when I got there and we had an enjoyable time watching the Bruins game even though they lost.
When the fight started, the manager came around to collect a cover charge for the fight as expected. However, when he came around he upcharged us and asked for $20 per person, saying that the charge was $15 only if you made a reservation and $20 if you didn't. I explained to him that I didn't make an online reservation because I had called earlier and agreed to an arrangement with the gentleman that I had talked to.
After going back and forth he was still persistent on charging us $20 a head. So to summarize, we were essentially penalized for coming 2 hours early and spending $400 on food and drinks during the Bruins game. I could've made a reservation and paid the $15 per person ahead of time but again didn't do this because of the arrangement agreed upon on the phone and because of the fact that they weren't even offering reservations starting at 7 as the place wasn't expected to be full.
I was excited for Hurricanes to open back up as I live on the block and have gone there regularly, but will be taking my business to Banner, Tavern, etc for the foreseeable future. The gap between $15 and $20 is negligible, but we decided to leave and watch the fights at my apartment out...
Read moreThe place is so poorly operated and unprofessional I actually had to take the time and effort to write this review. Last Saturday Night Sept 20th at around midnight myself and 8 other friends were looking to try this place out and have a few drinks. It seemed pretty empty and figured we would have no problem getting in. As we were waiting to show our ID's I overhear one bouncer saying to another bouncer that "it's a Bachelor Party Ten Dollar Cover". Sure enough they requested a ten dollar cover from us which infuriated us to go to the next Bar. Thirty Minutes later another friend of ours meets up with us after having been at Hurricane Orielly's only to discover he did not have to pay a cover. After we have Left the Boston Beerworks, which by the way was great and Service was outstanding we walked back to Orielly's. This time around I requested a reason why only certain people get in with/without a cover and if we could get in to give them our business. The two I stress Two bouncers proceeded to tell us that they were understaffed and could not let us in. I requested their manager, who they said was busy behind the bar serving drinks. Made no sense to me as they had two bouncers on a powertrip and another who had kicked another poor patron out for having his shoes untied. Overall We had met a Business that was so unprofessional and lacked competence, customer service and the desire to make money as a Business. Therefore I recommend anyone looking to try this place out to avoid it at all costs. There are many other great establishments that will not Hassle with you to take your business. Just feel sorry if there were workers who actually care to bring more people in. The ones I ran into did not. Other great places include The Harp, Boston Beerworks, The Fours etc if you happen to be...
