We went here on an impromptu rainy Thursday night. Never having gone before, but wanted to get some sushi with my fiancée after work. Luckily we found this restaurant a short walk away. The food was quick when we ordered, and it tastes very fresh. I'm happy with our meals. I got the Oishii Maki roll and a spicy krav roll (pictured below), and we also got a fried gyoza to share. All of them were fresh and delish. The Oishii Maki is the one with rice paper, it was not a powerful tasting roll, but very inoffensive and would be perfect to share with someone who is newer to sushi. My fiancée got 2 other rolls, one was a tempura and very tasty, definitely the favorite of the night. The atmosphere was a bit stand-off-ish, maybe just because it was a dismal rainy night, and they crew was cleaning the whole time. But the waitress was attentive and polite. And on the way out one of the cooks even opened the door for us. I would definitely dine here again or get takeout and try more sushi plates.

Standard Japanese restaurant for you to stop by. The vibe was not very "Japanese", but could get away in the Asian theme in general. They offer variety of dishes that you would find from a Japanese restaurant, curry, noodles, katsu, sushi, sashimi, nigiri etc. The sushi/sashimi plate I ordered was ok. Some of the served fish were in room temperature leaning toward the warmer side, which is a bit unsatisfied, however, their textures and freshness were good, no bad smell or squishy texture. Rice was reasonably seasoned to what you expected. The price was a bit high in my opinion (~$35 net per plate), but not too high that you cant bring friends over. The restroom was clean. The waiter/waitress were very active. Small note: they took my plate and cheque my table right away when I put down my chopsticks, even though no line or anything (I was the only customer at the time) I was genuinely going to get a dessert, but maybe for another time :)

A pleasant surprise!! We arrived here because my son wanted to try the foods here. He said it had a very good rating. I was reluctant. The restaurant looked much like any random Asian restaurant nothing flashy. We decided to try the food and were very glad we did! The food was very well prepared and very delicious!!! The waitress was very nice and had us seated immediately. The orders were brought out within a short time. A small bowl of Miso Soup and a small salad were first. Everyone gets this as its standard. We had Pork Katsu, Chicken Katsu, Spicy Scallop Maki, Chicken And Ramen in Miso Soup, Fried Pork and Ramen in Spicy Soup, and assortment of Maki, Shumai, Gyoza,. All were very well made!! This place was I guess a diamond in the rough!!! Do not judge this book by its cover, and try it out!! You will be very glad!!! Update as of 10/9/2022 Irashai is as good as ever!!

I love this place. My party of 3 entered here on a Friday night at 10pm. Greeted with an awkward "what the hell" look and was asked if we knew that they were closing in an hour at 11pm. Of course we knew, thats why we walked in to eat. You aren't closed yet. It's great being able to understand Chinese, especially the dialect they were speaking. Although they were speaking in Chinese amongst themselves, while speaking English with us. And while their English was very nice to us, their Chinese spoke of the complete opposite. Complaining why we came in so late, we looked like kids so we should be home. My girlfriend went to use the bathroom, and came back to tell us that she fell from the wet floor. There were no sign posted at all that the floor was wet. 5 minutes after she came back and listening to more complaining, the waitress kindly tells us in English that since its 1020pm and that their closing time is 11pm that we should be ordering soon. By then we're just fed up with their service and decide to leave.

Maybe their night shift is pretty bad, but I didn't like the service they provided. I'd probably only order takeout from this place and even then their food is mediocre at best. Prices you can say is okay for what their giving you but then I'd rather cough up a buck or two for better quality and service at Genki-ya down the street or troop my way over...
