Food: as good as it gets in the Boston area. The food is seasoned, and actually tastes Thai. You’re able to choose the meat, alter spice level, and the waitresses are knowledgeable about dietary restrictions.
Service: The reason I am writing this review is because I have been going to Kala for a few months now. Usually on Saturday evenings. Waitress on Saturday, I believe her name is Bee, is wonderful. She is always smiling, checking in on my wife and I, and if anything ever goes wrong, she’s still very friendly. Best way to put it is that she is very friendly and can see other customers enjoy her service as well. However, the older waitress, P. Lee, I believe, can sometimes be rude. Not mean by any means, but can come off as rude. She rushes customers to make room for waiting customers. Which is fair but can be done nicely. On the flip side, reservations are not respected. If you go in with a reservation, be expected to wait, though be treated with priorty. We came on a Friday night (last night) and she was quite rude, almost blaming us for not having a table ready for our reservation. I usually attribute it to cultural differences, but I think her coldness supersedes culture. As the third waitress there, who usually stays in the back, is also very friendly whenever we do take out.
Atmosphere: It’s small, but it’s loud and busy and smells delicious. Music is playing, and when you get the right waitress, they can also make the night much better. Food really...
Read moreI recently visited this small and cozy restaurant, and I have to say, it really hit the mark for a relaxed and comfortable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed by the friendly staff, which set a nice tone for the evening. The service was excellent – attentive without being overbearing, making sure we had everything we needed but also giving us space to enjoy our meal.
The menu offers a variety of dishes, and while nothing blew me away, everything I tried was solid and satisfying. The flavors were good, and the quality was consistent across the board. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find groundbreaking dishes, but everything was well-prepared and enjoyable, which makes it perfect for a casual meal with friends or family.
What I really appreciated was how reasonably priced everything was. For the quality and the service, you really can’t complain about the cost. It’s a great spot for a simple, no-fuss gathering, especially when you want a place that feels welcoming without the need for fancy frills.
Overall, this restaurant is a dependable choice when you’re in the mood for something low-key but satisfying. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or gathering with loved ones, it’s a place where you can enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere without...

Delicious Massaman Curry: The Massaman Curry is like a warm, Thai hug in a bowl. Creamy, rich coconut milk-based curry with just the right level of spice, served with tender chunks of meat. Efficient Service: The staff here takes orders lightning fast, and your dishes arrive promptly, ensuring you get your Thai fix in no time.
Cons: Small Space, Potential Wait: The restaurant is quite small, so be prepared for a wait, especially on busy nights. Not for Leisurely Dining: If you're looking for a leisurely meal, this might not be the place. The limited space and the queue of diners at the entrance create a bustling, energetic atmosphere.
