Service: 1/10
We waited for about 15 minutes after being seated before anyone even offered us water. The hostess came to the table once and apologized for the delay. The server was pleasant enough when he finally did acknowledge our table, but throughout the meal, he never refilled the water glasses or asked if we wanted additional drinks. When delivering the food, we were not asked if there was anything else we needed, such as ketchup. My husband didn't really like the taste of the burger he ordered, and had to flag someone down to get ketchup so that he could eat it. See more below about the ketchup. We had to wait an additional 5 minutes before we finally got the ketchup. It was all so bad that my husband, who is usually an over-tipper, left a minimal tip.
Food: 1/10
We had the corn dip as an appetizer. It tasted like canned cream corn with a little cream cheese and corn meal added. It was very sweet, and I couldn't taste any of the other flavors supposedly in the dish. We wished we had ordered something else.
My husband ordered the Backyard Burger ($16 with no fries), cooked medium. The meat was rare, and he said there was a strange fishy flavor to the burger, and needed ketchup to make it palatable enough to eat. It wasn't that he thought the meat was bad, it was that something on the burger had a strange flavor. As mentioned above, he was not offered any condiments, and we had to flag someone down to get some. It took that person so long, that we flagged down someone else. When he finally got the ketchup, he said it wasn't like any ketchup he had ever tasted, and NOT in a good way. The ketchup had a strange smokey flavor like they added "liquid smoke" to it. But the burger had such a weird flavor that the ketchup was needed for him to be able to eat it.
I ordered the Hellfire Chicken Salad ($18). This is probably my fault as I did not understand the nature of the Hellfire sauce, which has no flavor, but just scorches your tongue so that you can't taste anything else. I was hungry so I suffered through half of the salad--not tasting anything. This is where the lack of service was really noticeable. I had to drink all my water to be able to continue eating the salad, but we never got our glasses refilled. Luckily, my husband didn't drink all of his and was willing to share.
Location: 7/10
The best thing about this restaurant is the location and the view. The interior is basic, but the windows all around, and the location in the North End, made for a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, that's where the good ends for us.
Recommeded: Heck NO!
We agreed that we feel almost traumatized by this dining experience, and still has significant regrets, mostly because it was totally not worth the price and because we chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner. (Yes, choosing a burger place may seem strange, but my husband loves all things Gordon Ramsey.) We also agreed that this restaurant might be in a future episode of Gordon Ramsey's...
Read moreHad the opportunity to spend some quality time with my daughter, so we thought we would try it out before heading to a show. The atmoshpere was welcoming and the place seemed like a hip burger joint. Though it was near dinner time, I think we had just caught them before the dinner rush, as the place was just under half full. Host seated us, waiter eventually came to take our order (they apologized for taking so long to get to our table). I ordered a chicken burger and wings, while my daughter ordered one of their specialty burgers. Then it was downhill. We watched other patrons be seated and promptly had their orders taken.
We were given our drinks immediately.
After about 20 minutes, we saw people that arrived and placed orders after us recieve their food. When I finally got our waiters attention, i asked them when our food would be ready and they said they would check on it. I also requested thame check in advance, as we were on a time crunch and i didnt want that to hold us up.
They came back with a story about the kitchen being backed up and it wouldnt be long. I asked how long because we had to catch the train to get to a show. They responded that they would go check.
The waiter came back with a story that our chicken would just be a couple more minutes, but the burger was going to take longer. Sensing that I was not receiving the full story, I responded by asking why burgers are taking longer to cook than chicken wings? The waiter seemed flustered and hurriedly stated they would check and walked away.
When the waiter returned, they said it would be about 10 minutes. I was done. Thats when I requested that our check be adjusted to reflect only our drinks and they could cancel the rest of our order.
Is it unreasonable to expect food within 30 minutes of placing an order when the restaurant wasnt even HALF full? Even so, if there is an issue just be honest and straight-forward. Dont try to hide an issue. The waiter or manager should have just come over and said "hey, we forgot to put your order in", or "hey, our kitchen lost your order". Whatever, just be honest instead of having us wait there, watching other people eat that arrived after us.
All that being said, the waiter tried. I believe they were new and will eventuslly get the hang of it.
The floor manager did apologize and invited us for a complimentary meal during our next visit.
We will be back in September for the Arctic Monkeys concert, I am hoping to provide a...
Read moreHaving frequented Gordon Ramsay Burger in Boston on five separate occasions, I must express my mixed sentiments about this establishment.
One of the glaring issues is the inconsistency in the burger quality. A renowned name like Gordon Ramsay's typically symbolizes excellence and consistency. However, across my visits, the burger quality has fluctuated, failing to maintain a consistently high standard, being served cold or overcooked.
Furthermore, my attempts to provide constructive feedback to the restaurant were met with apathy. Despite reaching out via both phone and email, my concerns were seemingly ignored. The lack of response from the manager, particularly regarding an email dated October 12, 2023, underscores a concerning indifference to customer feedback.
A significant operational concern is the absence of an elevator to the second floor, where food is served.
Observing staff navigate the staircase, often struggling to maintain balance while carrying meals, raises questions about hygiene and safety. On several occasions, I found myself assisting staff to hold the plates with onion rings on the staircase. While they were balancing the burgers.
Personal dietary requirements, especially when health-related, should be handled with utmost care.
As someone battling cancer and restricted to well-done burgers, I was disheartened by the lack of knowledge exhibited by our waiter.
A basic understanding of menu items, especially in a group setting, should be a given. Instead, I was left to discern which burger was well done and which burger was rare.
It pains me to say that Gordon Ramsay's esteemed reputation seems to be misused in this instance.
As an avid fan of Chef Ramsay and his culinary expertise, I find it hard to believe that he would condone such inconsistencies and oversights.
The solution, in my opinion, lies in a thorough reassessment of the restaurant's management and operational practices.
In conclusion, while Gordon Ramsay Burger in Boston has the potential to offer a memorable dining experience, significant improvements are imperative. It is my hope that this feedback serves as...
