An Irish Pub in Boston!

I was shopping at Stillman's Farm stand talking to other vendors. Walked over to George Howell coffee enjoying a Cappuccino I remarked How every Sandwiche was 13.99 in here. Ever my Barista said try out Hennessy's Bar They have really good cheap eats. So I walked down 3 dollar beer special all the time. That night Coors or Bud lights 3 bucks and out side black board offered many cheap foods soup to Burgers, they had 1.00 Tacos chicken or Beef. I ordered 3 chicken were fresh tasty and hit the spot. Y'all have hit this place up a Coors light 6.55 bill I was more than satisfied its 6.00 or 7.50 a beer alone all around there. Great Bartender ate at the bar left a tip was on my way more than satisfied. Check it out

Came here while walking the Freedom Trail. They serve oysters for $1.50 each which is unheard of for a pub/bar/eatery around this location. We ordered 12 and 2 local beers and bill came out to less than $40 including tips. Wasn't too packed inside but the bar tender was cool and quick. The hostess seemed like she was bored of life in general and didn't even look like she wanted to greet us so we just walked passed her and got two seats at the bar. Oyster came out and was fresh. Couldn't tell the difference from the ones we paid double for at Union Oyster House. Then again, both places have their historical value for Boston. Can't complain either way.

Had an awful experience at this bar last night. Have been to Henneseys multiple times and have never had an issue until last night. The bouncer was checking my friend and I’s ID’s and my friend walked a few steps away because he was checking mine and the bouncer immediately told her since she walked away from her ID she was not allowed in the bar. We were so confused. We went up to the other man outside and questioned what happened and he continued to tell us we weren’t allowed in because she walked away from her ID which means she was “too drunk.” Both of us were completely fine and coherent. Very annoyed because our friends were all inside and the guy laughed as he told us he was not letting us in. It’s like the bouncer singled us out and tried to manipulate my friend for her to walk away from her ID to say psych and deny us entry. We then walked to Paddy O’s next door and asked their bouncer if this was a normal thing to deny people entry for and the bouncer said that it was completely abnormal and that he could go talk to them and get us in if we wanted. But at this point we were so angry we didn’t even want to. I don’t mean to make this out to be a huge ordeal but it was just a little frustrating when we planned our whole night as so and then got our plans changed because the bouncer wanted to abuse his “power”. It was frustrating because we continued to ask the bouncer why we were not allowed in and he just continued telling us he couldn’t let us in and it really made 0 sense. Definitely won’t be going back to Henneseys which is unfortunate because I used to enjoy...

Summer tourist season in full swing in Boston. Stopped at Union Oyster House around 12:30 for lunch: too crowded and too over priced. Continued down Union Street, passed a few other crowded places. Came upon Hennessy's and walked in. The fact that they only had one or two other tables occupied at 12:45 in the afternoon on a hot summer day should have been our first clue. The bar was empty. The waitress was a little friendly but not overly. The menu and prices looked reasonable. We both ordered the lunch special of the fish sandwich with side of fries and coleslaw. The wings sampler was an okay appetizer but not spectacular. The fish plate looked good but that was about it. The fries were worse than your typical Wendy's or BK fries. They were soaked with grease. The fish (no idea WHAT kind of fish it was) did not taste like haddock or cod. Never saw the tartar sauce. The fish was supposed to be a Sam Adams beer battered portion. It did not seem fully cooked. It and the coating were greasy. We could only stomach half the sandwich and I could not eat but three of the fries. The coleslaw was unremarkable. With an iced tea and soda the meal was about $45.00. We really wanted to like this place. "Best of Boston"??! NOT hardly!!! Felt bad not eating what we paid for but knew if we ate it we would probably really feel worse!! May be ok for beer and music but if you want to eat, there are plenty of other places around Union Street to chose from. Don't bother to go to...

It has been awhile since I had last stepped foot in this bar, probably around 2015 St. Patty's Day and that is a pretty vague memory 😉 This time however I had no drinks prior.... my boyfriend and I went to grab a bite and some drinks around 7:00 p.m. We got the wings which were very good as were the drinks! The crowd was light and seemed to be there to enjoy dinner and drinks as well. At around 8ish? Staff started pulling tables and chairs and a live band set up (downstairs). By 10 o'clock the place was packed, but not too much so that we wanted to leave. There were people from every age group which we really enjoyed as we are in our late 30's. We got curious and ventured upstairs (there is typically a cover to go upstairs, but if you get there early and are already in the bar you will not need to pay) where there is a dance club. They had a DJ and music videos playing on a projector screen. By 11 p.m. the club was too packed for us, but ALOT of fun to let lose and dance for hours!! We ended the night by closing down with the crowd downstairs dancing and singing to the live band- 'Whiskey Princess' they were AMAZING!!! All and all a really fun place with great vibes and a crowd for every age group whether upstairs or down....
