I am not writing this in ill intent or as a customer that was unsatisfied with the food. The thing is, the food is amazing at this place! Hence the 2 stars. So good that we were in Boston for only two nights and this was our pick the second time too. The first night went very well. Noticed some odd stuff but not too much for it to set me off. First night I noticed that two men that came after us and ordered wayyyy later- got their appetizers first. Of course that stands out to any customer. But I didn’t make a big deal out of it since I’ve never experienced that before. I just thought whatever. Maybe they messed up. We enjoyed our food and were so happy with the servers and our time there and we went in the second day. Upon entering it- I then noticed that they had an outdoor space too. It was late at night the first night so I didn’t even notice and no one even had even asked if me or my party wanted to sit out. But fine, maybe the first night they were out of outdoor space. We got in and the man was fairly nice. He takes us to the corner of the inside space and sits us down. All normal stuff. Then while we’re waiting for our food, the guy in the front asks a group of people that just entered if they’d prefer to sit inside or out. I am a little bit taken aback- I wasn’t even offered the option. Then a bit later another party of some more people are asked the same thing. This type of conversations are of course very uncomfortable. They were all white and I’m not. But it was the first time in my life when a service at a place had made me feel like it was a bit unfair. It’s not even about sitting outside, it’s about the service. I would have loved to be asked that or given that option and not just stuffed in the corner. Something that my friend later pointed out was odd too. The inside was basically empty and we were somehow in the corner.
I loved the food. I didn’t like the uneasy experience the second day gave me. The servers and the service they provided was amazing too. All sweet people. The management or whoever is in the front needs to do better. Stuff like this lingers with someone and it turns them off from your place. No matter how...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked into Sarva Indian Cuisine, I knew I was in for something special. The warm, inviting atmosphere, the gentle hum of conversation, and the rich aroma of spices instantly transported me to the heart of India. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The butter chicken was velvety and packed with flavor, perfectly paired with soft, buttery naan. The biryani had just the right balance of fragrant spices and tender, juicy meat.
But two dishes truly stole the show. The Kerala fish curry with salmon was a masterpiece—perfectly cooked salmon simmered in a coconut-based curry with just the right amount of heat and tang. Every bite was comforting yet exciting, bringing the flavors of coastal India to life. And then there were the tandoori lamb chops—succulent and bursting with deep, charred flavors. The spices were bold yet balanced, making it one of the best tandoori dishes I’ve ever had. What truly made the experience memorable was the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They took the time to make recommendations, ensuring that we got the best of what Sarva had to offer. If you're looking for a place that serves not just a meal, but an experience one that warms your heart as much as your taste buds - Sarva Indian Cuisine is it. I left feeling full, happy, and already planning...
Read moreSarva is a fresh addition to the already charming and lively neighborhood of Newbury Street! It's a breath of fresh air for those craving good, earthy Indian food. Sarva's specialty is definitely its wide array of selection of delicacies from salads to soups to tandoor to curries. They have Chaats and Indo-Chinese too. But the cherry on top is definitely a few of its handpicked dishes from the Southern part of India, Kerala thus churning out some amazing mélange of spices and blends with their Cochin Goat Curry and Chicken curry and the signature Kerala fish curry and prawns curry. This is not just a first in Newbury Street but all of Massachusetts! Sarva has a café too that has a good selection of popular Indian quick bites like cutlets, samosas, omelettes, coffee and smoothies. The garlic Naan we ordered was heavenly! Be sure to not miss out on their mouthwatering Lamb Chops, veg cutlets and coconut tomato soup, while you're there. In beverages, you must try the Sulaimani tea and Madras filter coffee. The only downfall is that their Tandoor Rotis are big sized and cut in 4 pieces. Please keep that in mind when you order! We were seated outside on a gentle breezy day, but the fireplace kept us really warm and the fuzzy yellow lights and slow music lent the perfect ambience! Sarva is a rare gem and I highly...
