If you live in Boston, you know about Tatte! I’ve reviewed a few of their other locations and all of them are consistent in both quality, taste, and portion size.
Tatte has a great menu with something for everyone! The food is all made fresh on site. They have a solid selection of all-day breakfast. Breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, and scrambles.
On the weekends, they do offer a “brunch” menu. Their cold brews and espresso are also phenomenal and pair perfectly with their breakfast offerings and pastries.
I’m a huge fan of their Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. It’s filled with eggs- your way, juicy tomato, baby arugula, Vermont cheddar, & avocado. It is a great size portion, you certainly won’t leave here hungry!
For those looking for lunch options, you won’t be disappointed! They have a solid selection of fresh and unique sandwiches, tartines, fresh salads, soup, flatbreads, and a wide variety of plates.
My personal go-to for lunch or an early, light dinner is the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich- add prosciutto! It’s made with fresh mozz, juicy tomato, crisp baby arugula, & pine nut pesto. The prosciutto is a small up charge, well worth it!
Their pastry and bakery selection is truly massive. They have a plethora of fresh breads, tarts, brownies, cookies, scones, monkey bread, cakes, loafs, buns, croissants, tiramisu, donuts, and cookies!
Everything is baked and made fresh on-site, nothing is stale or old. The commitment to quality here is very apparent.
If you dine in, be prepared for a bit of a line. They move it quickly and are incredibly efficient. Table service is excellent if you dine in. They happily bring the food to your table. They also have a nice outdoor patio.
We stopped in for “Brunch” today. It was extremely busy, but the staff was like a well-oiled machine. Don’t let the line discourage you, it moves quickly! Be sure to snag a table inside or on the patio, as they are constantly busy.
We dined inside as the patio was completely full, no big deal. We expected a crowd given the holiday weekend. Service was top-notch and the food came out piping hot and fresh. Everything is made to order.
I ordered my usual: The Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. The Croissant is phenomenal, flaky yet soft inside. It held up great to the scrambled eggs, cheese, tomato, arugula, and avocado. The croissant is one of the best I have had!
The guest with me ordered the Avocado Tartine. Sourdough bread piled high with fresh baby arugula, dill, radish, avocado, and poached eggs. I’m not a fan of sourdough, but it looked incredible. The eggs were done perfectly!
We decided to split a small mixed-berry fruit cup. The fruit was fresh and delicious, no mushy fruit cup here! We both got an order of monkey bread to go. You have to grab a sweet treat to enjoy for later!
If you’re looking for a reliable, consistent, fresh, and delicious Bakery-Cafe in Boston, you must give Tatte a try! It’ll be one of your new go-to spots. I know it is one of mine!
They do have multiple locations in and around Boston. It’s always been consistent and fresh, no matter what...
Read moreGosh, I really really wanted to give them five stars. Instead, here is a very thorough review of why this is not so. After three tries to produce a hot Cortado, they were all somehow a little bit colder than the first. The pastries are great though!
I came in here last year and really enjoyed the gorgeous pastry offerings. and whimsical holiday pastries and cookies. We lived in the neighborhood for many years, so each year we revisit.
Then I recently visited in October 2025. It was just a few blocks from our house (we were on a home swap, so we had an extended stay, and I was here quite a bit). Each day I would walk down the hill for my morning coffee and pastry here. Each time I would order a cortado. The first time it was Lukewarm, but by no means warm. So the second time I asked for a “extra hot” and it was even less hot than the first time. And this continued to the point where it was so lukewarm at some point that if it was bathwater I would say it was a little bit chilly. I’m not exaggerating. And every time I said ‘extra hot’ they seem to compensate by not actually producing an extra hot drink, but instead putting in less cream/milk. So at some point, I was just looking at a macchiato. It was lukewarm espresso with just a bit of foam on top. No longer even a Cortado. And still, lukewarm. Why did I keep coming back? Part of me was hopeful that one day they would fix it, and also, the pastries are exquisite! The croissants are some of the best in town. And one day I had a croissant with some cheese and some meat in it and it was sublime! So I love the pastries, and I really want this to be my café when I am in town. But I just need my coffee to be warm. Not scalding, not hot. But...
Read moreMixed feelings … bakery and pastry items are good. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich with the optional “homemade” sausage for an additional $2 … I wouldn’t recommend the “homemade sausage” … spicy and dry … at least mine was. The sandwich was average at best. In addition, it appears that management has removed any type of options and decision making from the employees. I wanted a side of potatoes, but unfortunately, if your item doesn't show potatoes on the menus, they can’t offer separately …. And there is only one item on the menu that offers potatoes … the house breakfast plate. So no potato fritters for me. Then, my wife ordered an ice latte, which was very milky and not very strong. She went up to the counter, explained that the latte was weak, and asked for an additional shot of coffee. The young lady behind the counter was short and rude as she explained that the latte only gets two shots. She then swiped the cup out of my wife’s hand, threw it away, and made her a new drink. Not sure how that makes any sense at all … as I’m pretty sure they would have been well ahead of the game by just offering an additional third shot … rather than an additional two plus other ingredients to make another drink. My wife then went to the register and explained what happened … and they offered her a third shot. The entire experience was uncomfortable and stressful … won’t be back.
I understand we were there at a peak time, and they were crowded, but being polite and courteous shouldn’t be compromised. We...
