We were really looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately will never be coming back. Their online reservation platform (OpenTable) allows reservations to be made all the way until 10pm, so I made a reservation for 9:30pm. The host called us around 8 to let us know we could come early if we wanted but we planned for 9:30 so told him we could potentially be there by 9:15 at the earliest. There was a ton of traffic, I am currently handicap, and it was raining, so I called to let them know we would be 5 minutes late. The host said “okay, but to let you know we will be closing the kitchen after you order”, and I said okay. When arriving, I told the host that we were there for Juan (my boyfriend), table for 2 and the host informed me that the kitchen had already been closed. I then reminded the host that I just spoke with him on the phone and he told me they would wait to close the kitchen until after we ordered. He said we should’ve been more clear with saying we had a reservation and then proceeded to walk us to our table. He had an insane attitude and was very rude to us throughout this process. Once we were seated we almost left because of how unsettled we felt with the interaction. The waiter was very kind and assured us that we were more than good on time and could take our time ordering and eating as there were still others in the restaurant as well, so we decided to stay. Throughout the dinner the host began turning the lights all the way on, turning the music off, and turning the TVs off. My boyfriend and I were so uncomfortable that we ended up eating our $200, 2 course dinner within 35 minutes. If a restaurant is going to be rude and disrespectful to their customers for wanting to dine at a later time, then just don’t allow your online platform to schedule reservations after that time. It wasn’t our fault that you could schedule a 9:30 reservation? Plus, we weren’t even the last ones in the restaurant. Absolutely not worth the $200 we spent and will not be returning. And no I am not a typical “Karen” I just had a very unfair and unsettling experience here and wanted to share...
Read moreSmall but Oh My! Our three generations chose this delightful restaurant because their kids menu offered butter noodles - a favorite of picky eating grandsons.
SERVICE: We arrived early for our reservation - 'no problem, let us do a bit of setup and we can get you right in.' We immediately felt welcomed and valued. The service continued to be excellent, never hovering but somehow right there whenever needed. During dinner I made an off-hand comment in passing conversation about bread. Turns out the maitre d' overheard the word "bread" and shortly delivered a basket of their wonderful baguette - fresh from the warmer.
FOOD: And then there was the food. I mentioned the butter noodles. They were a hit with one grandson. The other enjoyed his with marinara sauce. My wife's Pistachio Salmon from the specials menu was outstanding. Well prepared and seasoned, it was perfectly matched on a bed of Basalmic Rice. My Nantucket Seafood Stew was a treat. I ordered the Starter size (so I could help with the Salmon). It was the perfect size for a light meal. The broth was excellent and the quality, quantity, and variety of seafood was beyond expectations. Other treats at our table included the Starter size Lobster Pasta (again, a great size for a small meal) and the Pasta Caprese - two thumbs way up on both of those.
EXPERIENCE: This is a “local eatery” ready to welcome whomever walks thru the door with great food, pleasant atmosphere, and efficient caring service. Can’t wait...
Read moreLeaving this place, I knew I needed to leave a review! Impromptu, i made a reservation about 2 hours before, not even knowing their special that was happening! To my surprise they had a lovely Wine Wednesday special. One starter, one entree and 2 glasses of wine for $39 pp. I was interested in nearly everything on the special’s menu, but landed with the chardonnay (which usually im a pinot grigio girl, but this was nice and sweet!), coconut shrimp (as per the recommendation of the bartender), and the schnitzel. Im not usually one to finish a meal, i love leftovers, but this… i finished it! It was so delicious. The sauce served with the coconut shrimp was just spicy enough. The apple brandy on the perfectly crisped schnitzel, delectable. The veggies and pretzel served with that as well were such a nice treat as sides. I was enjoying my book, so decided to order an espresso martini after finishing my meal. I am a self proclaimed espresso martini connoisseur, and this one is probably the best i’ve had in Boston since moving here 3 months ago. The service was great here, i witnessed the hostess clearing, serving, and taking orders which i think is just great, she’s a team player for sure! One last thing to note, im usually not noticing this, but, the playlist was great! Natalie Cole, Fleetwood Mac, Lionel Richie. Kudos to whoever made the playlist! Thank you! I will...
