After seeing the reviews highly recommending The Paramount, I took my family visiting from across the country for brunch. There was a long line to get into the restaurant, but we were seated within fifteens minutes of arrival. I thought things were off to a good start. One member of our party was running behind; however, we were prepared to order for her and did so. They neglected our repeated requests for a water for her. They never brought it out. When our food arrived, we were missing a set of silverware. This was probably an honest mistake as we were missing a member when we sat down. We notified our server, but he never brought them. We had to get up and get it ourselves. The last guest ordered a cup of coffee, and she asked for cream three separate times. After covering our breakfast potatoes in ketchup, upon tasting, it was literally rancid. Everyone at the table took a whiff of the ketchup and deemed it repulsive. When we set the bottle back on the table, it was so full of gas that it erupted like a volcano. Personally, I ordered the brioche french toast which is pictured with fruit. It arrived as a few pieces of bread with a blob of butter. After bringing it to their attention that the fruit was neglected, they said that it does not come with fruit. I told them that it’s pictured with fruit, which they attempted to gaslight me by saying that it’s not. I showed them the picture, and they brought out fruit. However, they charged an additional $5 for the fruit which the french toast is pictured with. During this entire experience, no restaurant employee voluntarily checked to see how we were doing. We had to flag someone down for everything that we needed. Finally, our server reached across another table to coyly slide the bill on to our table without a word. I will never return, and I don’t recommend that anyone eats here. The service issue is one thing, but food safety is another. Having any type of rancid food in a restaurant AND serving it to customers is completely unacceptable and unsafe. There was never any apology for any of what we experienced from any employee. Save your money, and go literally anywhere else for a much better, and...
Read moreThis was my first time coming to eat here. I’ve heard good things about it and it was recommended to come here for brunch. To start off, the customer service wasn’t where I would expect from a business who’s been in open since 1937. My group walked in, and no one greeted us or asked how many for a table. Instead we waited in front of the door for like 3 mins until I walked over to an employee and asked do I need to put my name down somewhere, with he reply as just wait outside the door I’ll be right with you. Fast forward 15 mins waiting near the entrance still waiting, I go over and ask when I see a table with a party of 4 leaving if my group after that table gets cleared, if we could have it since we were next, and again, she replies I’ll be right with you. So as they clear the table I wanted to sit at with my party and another table (a little smaller one than the one I requested) that could still hold 4 but is tight, they sit us at the smaller one. We sat down and the server goes to the party of 2 and sits them at the bigger table I requested. They also give them menus without even asking while we use the QR scan, and serve them water while my group still waits. Our server finally comes and asks are y’all ready to order, with not even bringing us the traditional cups of water for the table. I ask for a round of water for the table before we place our order. He goes to collect tables checks and take orders from others before coming back to us with our water. We place our orders, and I got a egg bacon pepper jack cheese breakfast sandwich with home fries. It was delicious for a diner style sandwich. My table also orders their own sandwiches and we ordered French toast for the table which to my surprise was delicious. The space inside their is tight, with a lot of moving pieces and very little attention to their guests/customers coming in. The food was good, don’t get me wrong, and that’s why as of today I will give it a 3 star, but to wait that long and get the service we got, I was not a fan. I could have gone to a local cafe or diner and got a breakfast sandwich and it would have tasted...
Read moreHorrible experience! Please try some other brunch spots in town! My family was in town so googled a spot for brunch and this place came. We were excited since we wanted to give it a try looking at the reviews and all. In a weekday afternoon, we were confident we can find a spot. I arrived early few minutes before my party sine I live around, the waiter immediately told me I can’t be seated before the rest of my guests arrive and that I was “welcome” to wait at the door inside. He said if I waited outside my spot won’t be reserved. I told him they were literally few minutes behind but he said that was their policy. I asked him if I can reserve the table and leave.. of course he gave me another no. Underwhelmed, I went for a walk checking out the next door stores and few minutes later my family called me with the same issue.. they arrived but was denied seating since again, all party members need to be present to get seated! I made a quick walk next door only to find my family standing up while another guest who just arrived being seated. There was this waitress now who walked us to an empty high seat table in front of the kitchen . The wall was used as a storage hanger for some brown bags and looked like some random unorganised space to host a paying guest who is trying to have a nice time. We asked that we get reseated but carelessly told this was it. So we left! Nothing, no apology no solution offered.
Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere to the landwer cafe where we we were treated with respect and offered great seats and food.
I’ve been living in Boston for a decade now, and NEVER, was I ever denied seating at a restaurant becsuse my party was a few minutes late. They need to train their waiters on some hospitality manners and clean/organise their space since as guests, we don’t want to be seated next to your...
