TL;DR — Food is good and staff is excellent, but price (per portion) and location are extremely off-putting.
Details: I was looking for a new spot to get lunch and found this while map-searching for quick dining options within a 20min walking distance. It was a nice day, so I walked 15mins on my lunch break to the Hummus Shop.
My biggest issue is that the shop is located behind a dry cleaner, which has the sidewalk/storefront advantage for visibility; without the "Hummus Shop" sidewalk sign and staffer outside, I would have easily passed it. There is a narrow common entrance, where one passes the cleaner before getting to the Hummus Shop. I walked through, putting aside my concern about the dry cleaner and my common sense, because I really wanted falafel.
The staff was extremely helpful, polite and delightful as I figured out what to get with my falafel. I ultimately got the falafel hummus bowl and I took it back to my job. The food was fine and my interaction with the staff was excellent. HOWEVER, neither was enough to justify $18 for three crispy and relatively small falafel balls on the side with a rather light sprinkling of cucumber/microgreen salad on top of hummus.
The Beacon Hill address and complimentary stickers aren't worth paying so much for falafel while risking possible toxic...
Read moreThe Hummus Shop is my new favorite find. I’ve tried falafel and sabich in so many places, but this spot genuinely surprised me—hands down, the best I’ve had outside Israel. The sabich is perfectly balanced, and the falafel has that crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside magic that’s hard to find. But let me tell you, the amba sauce here? It’s a game-changer. Tangy, bold, and absolutely addictive—I could eat it by the spoonful.
Plus, everything is 100% plant-based, which makes it even better. It’s rare to find food that’s this fresh and full of flavor while being entirely plant-based, so that’s a huge win. Honestly, the only thing that would take it to the next level would be kosher certification.
If you’re a fan of authentic flavors or just great food in general, The Hummus Shop is where it’s at. Definitely...

The national dish of my country, Lebanon, is hummus and I'm ashamed to have anyone call what you sell hummus. It tasted old and bitter and like you don't know what you're doing. Because you don't.
Editing to answer the owner's reply of my review: accusing your customers of hatred and never having actually tried your food is incredibly disrespctful. Would you do this with every low rating you got? Accuse your customers of hatred simply for not liking your food? If you actually cared about your food and customers then you should probably take their thoughts into consideration instead of disrespecting them.
Helpful tip despite your rudeness: you should check where your ingredients come from. Not all lemons, tahini and...
