### Review: Bittersweet Shoppe on Newbury Street I recently stopped by Bittersweet Shoppe on Newbury Street for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, and it was an absolute delight! The space is incredibly cute and charming, with a clever layout that maximizes seating in what could otherwise feel like a quirky, confined area. Somehow, they manage to fit everything in without making you feel like you're on top of your neighbors—it's cozy without being cramped, perfect for a quick bite or a relaxed coffee break. One standout feature is their gluten-free bread substitutions, which made it easy for my friend to customize her order. I went with the grilled cheese sandwich featuring bacon, dill pickles and it was perfection on a plate. The bread had a beautiful golden crust with just the right crunch, and the portions were spot-on—generous amounts of gooey cheese, crispy bacon, and tangy pickles that balanced each other beautifully without overwhelming the sandwich. Paired with a tasty cup of coffee that was smooth and not burnt at all, it hit the spot exactly as I needed. They also have a lot of great options on the menu, which makes it even more appealing. If you're strolling down Newbury Street and craving something comforting and well-executed, Bittersweet Shoppe is a gem worth visiting. I'd love to go back and try more—highly recommend! 5 out of 5 stars.

One of my favorite spots on Newbury with a fun, small town coffee shop vibe. Having frequented this shop for a year, Sunday mornings at Bittersweet have almost become a ritual for me. On days with good weather, the place could get extremely crowded, so I either come early in the mornings or order for a takeout. It was their cinnamon sticky bun iced coffee that first caught me by surprise. Since then, I’ve been coming back to try their array of distinctive flavored iced coffees and lattes. Yes, they are sweet, and the idea of sipping on flavors like iced sugar cookie or strawberry shortcake might initially sound appalling. Nevertheless, it’s always nice to have something fun once in a while, and they are great for a quick and invigorating sugar rush in the mornings. Food-wise, expect comforting staples adorned with the quintessential Newbury price tag. Although dubbing them "gourmet" might be stretching it, there's no denying that they’re solid snacks. So far, I’ve tried their Tuna melt sandwich and the Boston baked bean hot dog, and both were good. Overall, a refreshing divergence from generic coffee shop mold. If you're wandering Newbury and in need of a caffeine and sugar kick with a side of comfort, this is your spot.

Delicious food. Got the raspberry chocolate specialty ice coffee and it was one of the best coffees I’ve had. Also got tomato basil balsamic grilled cheese with tomato soup and it was the best grilled cheese in my whole life and I am a grilled cheese GIRL. So definitely recommend. Not a lot of seating and can get busy. Other coffee in the photo was cold brew French vanilla and my friend said it was good. You cannot substitute the side of chips with the tomato soup (which is fine) so that’s a separate charge. Friend also got spinich and feta bites , mini donuts, caramel toffee coffee, egg frittata. Everything was good! Only thing was the caramel toffee was not as sweet as she expected. Wonderful!

It is true that this may be the cutest café in back bay! The vibes are truly immaculate. The Bittersweet Shoppe has an eclectic and interesting menu with many coffee and latte options that differ from your typical coffee shop. While my coffee was much too sweet and decadent for my personal liking (I tried the cherry cordial latte which is admittedly outside of my comfort zone for coffee, but a personally beloved flavor profile), the experience and sitting on Newbury St. with a friend made the experience wonderful. The staff was kind and their selection of foods and baked goods looked delicious! The cinnamon buns looked next level, and their grilled cheese sandwiches all sound unique and tasty! This is not a 'basic' café, and I believe there is an option for...
