I made an appointment for full brunette balayage w/ a haircut, Olaplex, toner, gray coverage, and blow dry. The haircut itself, while not exactly what I requested, is quite nice. Everything else left me a bit frustrated. I did not receive an Olaplex conditioning treatment at all. My highlights are brassy (unlike my inspiration photos) and “partial” rather than “full” (i.e., sizable sections are missing, and they don’t go all the way up to the root), so I’ll be going elsewhere to have it fixed. My little bit of gray is well covered, but I left with dye all over my forehead (not even just along the hairline) because it was applied haphazardly and they didn’t have any remover. But perhaps my biggest complaint is that their insufficient draping didn’t prevent stripper and dye/toner from ruining my clothing; my $300 shirt has a bleach stain and trail of dark dye/toner stains down the back that two different dry cleaners have been unable to remove. Of course, no one bothered to let me know as I left the salon, so I proceeded to walk around Back Bay with a dirty shirt until the nice cashier at Flour gave me a heads up. In all my years of getting my hair colored, that was a first. I did call the salon but was only offered an “oops, sorry, try some hairspray, good luck”. I realize some of these complaints may seem nit-picky but feel getting your hair done/colored at a reputable salon in downtown Boston (and shelling out hundreds of dollars for it) is a luxury, so this experience failed to meet my expectations. Shortcuts and carelessness simply leave a bad taste...

I started going to The Loft about a year ago and I have a great experience every single time! Everyone is super friendly from the girls at the front desk to my stylist Rachel. They were very accommodating when I had to reschedule an appointment this winter due to a blizzard and I've never had to wait when I've had an appointment. I am very picky about my hair and could never stick with a hairdresser, that was until Rachel at The Loft did my hair. I wanted to dye my hair for the first time in about 5 years and was VERY nervous. I showed her a picture of the Ombre color I wanted and a cut with lots of layers and angles. After she finished and I saw my new hair, I could not believe how perfect the cut and color were, it looked exactly like the picture! The color was very blended and gradually lightened, it was just what I wanted. I have kept this color for close to a a year and cannot believe all the compliments I get on it, even from strangers! It is such a great feeling being able to go into the salon and completely trust my hairdresser and know I am going to leave feeling beautiful! Best hair salon I have ever been too! Cara Stella was amazing. I didn’t know what I wanted to do to my hair so she suggested low lights and a great cut. I felt like a million bucks after my hair cut and received so many compliments. I would never have anyone cut/color/style my hair after my experience with Cara. She was very friendly the entire time. Always making sure I was comfortable. The experience was very relaxing especially when she washed my hair. This experience can be awful when the water is too hot or cold. Cara made sure the water was a comfortable temperature. Another bonus was I didn’t have to wait when I showed up at my appointment. It was a great to see she was ready for me when I showed up. I can’t count how many times I had to wait for the hairdresser when I would show up for my appointment because another client ran late or they took a walk in – very frustrating. Incredible experience at the Salon overall, but I would most definitely recommend...
