Probably the worst restaurant in Chinatown and one of the worst restaurants i’ve ever been to. As lovers of the restaurants in Chinatown(and authentic Chinese food) we’ve always had positive experiences, was out with my partner, and his brother to introduce him to dimsum. As neither me nor my partner had been to this restaurant before (looked promising from the outside) we decided to check it out. First off the service, we were served by this middle aged lady server and she was so rude. She mumbled and made dismissive comments about how we ordered when she never explained the process. We walked in, and were seated and given menus. Apparently we had to circle the dimsum off the paper but we weren’t told that nor were we given pens to make that connection either. So she got really annoyed right off the bat and started our experience there awkwardly. Regardless, we were still expecting and hoping for delicious dimsum, so we ordered Spare ribs in black bean sauce, Spring rolls, fried pork buns, pork and peanut dimsum off the dimsum menu and beef lo mein. The spare ribs (in picture) were possibly the most unappetizing ribs i’ve ever been served in my life. They were also extremely boney and felt like i’d been served off cuts. The spring rolls were fine, only edible item of the night. The peanut and pork dumplings had literally no pork, only peanuts. And it didn’t even taste good. Tasted like someone steamed raw peanuts inside the dough and called it a day. Next, the fried pork bun, we were hoping this wouldn't dissapoint as how do you mess up deep fried pork buns? However they served us bland flavorless buns with 20% filling. honestly i was grateful for the 20% cuz the meat tasted awful anyway so didn’t need any more of that. Lastly the sticky rice, It had absolutely no flavor. the rice was basic stick rice with bits of sausage and shrimp and was so bland. Waste of money IMO, as you’re better off ordering regular rice instead of paying $11 for this. Not to mention we were led to believe the rice was off the dimsum menu(as that’s where we saw it) and everything was priced around 6 bucks per item however she charged us full price for it. Last the beef brisket Lo mein, it was actually ghastly. There was no beef brisket except for maybe one or two pieces, the rest was all skin and trip and fat, again serving off cuts like they did with the ribs. Not only were we served these awful pieces the noodles itself had no flavor. and tasted like they were cooked in dishwater. Also we were forcibly served tea without informing us it’s paid chargeable and not all of us even drank tea yet she charged us for all 3. The tea itself was pretty bad like it was basically hot water, absolutely no essence of jasmine or oolong or whatever they were trying to serve us. Finally, the rotten cherry on top, while we were paying the server literally bent over to stare as we filled out the tips part and kept glaring. Honestly this experience was definitely a 0 tip moment (i hate to say this as someone who understands the struggles and we always tip the highest amount) we still ended up paying 15% tips and she was frowning which honestly infuriated me after the horrific service and eating experience. It was a shame as my partners brothers first experience at dimsum was pretty awful. Anyway if you value your wallet, food and your mental health, please DO NOT go here! Plenty of other better restaurants in...
Read moreNOTE: $40 MINIMUM if you want to use a Credit Card. Food: A+ Waitstaff: F
I recommend ordering to go instead of sitting in to eat. Even though dimsum is meant to be eaten right away.
Today I experienced something quite horrible. I was a witness to a girl getting shamed and berated by waitstaff. She apparently had eaten and didn’t know that the minimum charge for credit had to be $40+. She didn’t have any cash on her and doesn’t use Venmo. Her bill came out to be around $25 or so. The female staff up front continuously shamed her and treated her so rudely. (very loudly in front of a room full of people eating) She kept going on and on about how she should “know better.” That “this was Chinatown” and “you should be carrying cash on you.” (This is amongst many other things she said to the girl)
In the end, she continuously berated this poor girl. And after this girl left, I was the next person in line to pick up my to go order. Apparently, this waitress was still upset about what happened previously, so she started giving ME attitude. Absolutely ridiculous. Don’t vent your frustrations on the next customer that didn’t do anything to you to provoke such a thing. Unprofessional and childish.
If you are going to have a $40 minimum, maybe you should ask people beforehand if they are paying with card. If they say yes, let them know that you have a $40 minimum limit to use a charge card.
Not everyone will carry cash around with them. Many people don’t. Don’t expect everyone to know how “Chinatown works.” You are expecting an impossibility. A new person visiting your restaurant for the first time doesn’t know the “rules.”
Be kind. I’m fairly certain it was that girls first time at your restaurant. You treated her so horribly. There is a good chance she left crying. What is the matter with you? Everyone makes mistakes. And this mistake is also partially yours for not clarifying better before you sat her down and she ate her entire meal. I imagine if that was my son or daughter and someone treated them that way. I wouldn’t tolerate it.
To end off, Do better (to the waitress at the front desk today). It may have been a long day and you may have had it rough, but that doesn’t give you the right to harm another person like...
Read moreWe visited this place for the 1st time in search for good dim sum in Boston, unfortunately this will be our last time coming here and will be the same for all our families and friends due to not just the lack of customer service but down right rudeness treatment our group received from every single restaurant staff members since the moment we first walked through the door. We initially gave the benefit of the doubt to the 1st female staff member who took our order, chalking it up as "she may be having a rough day" when she rudely responded loudly with some grumpy look to our inquiries of a couple of menu items. But then we found out the other staff members also demonstrated the same demeanor by either giving us death stares or not even looking or acknowledging our simplest requests such as asking for a pair of chopsticks, removing a couple of empty containers when they came to bring out our foods, they just simply ignored and pretended to not even hear us as they continue to walk right past our table, not wanting to be bothered with. Of all the places we ate in Boston, this was the only restaurant that charged us for the tea brought on our table even though we did not order it. They never bothered to come by our table one time to check up on us or refill our water. From their demeanor, we were frankly scared to ask of anything else from them the entire time. They somehow expected a tip through all this! Their dim sum foods were not outstanding but decent, however with this type of poor service from their entire staff we encountered, not sure how this business will last in the long run(?) If minimum customer service is expected, then you are coming to a wrong restaurant in our opinion. We have never short changed anyone on tips except this one instance as a way of "constructive criticism" but this one last impression we want to point out, upon seeing our minimal tip left on the table, one of the waiter there (with a left earring) had the nerve when he bolted out the front door, asking us for more tip, we told him that was for poor service and he responded with the "F----" response. Sorry but do they not know what...
