I had been here for dinner before and it was incredibly mediocre and we had numerous problems with the flies. When I heard our group was going here for "brunch" over the weekend, I decided to give it a second chance but unfortunately it was worse.
The host/hostess service was poor as they did not provide us with "brunch" menus when we were seated yet everyone around us had them. We had to go up behind the host/hostess stand and get them ourselves.
We first ordered fried pickles as an appetizer which came out with hardly any pickle and were more of a plate of high-sodium breading pieces.
My friends and I then made the mistake of ordering eggs, which came out in various forms and temperatures. The omelettes were bland and watery, and I ordered an egg BLT called the "belt buster" which was more of a "bust" than anything. The bread was straight out of the bread bag and the sandwich was incredibly dry. I had to use the ranch from my appetizer to make it taste better. If you are applying ranch to your eggs something is not right. The wait staff also did not inform us that they apparently ran out of "brunch" potatoes and all of the dishes at my table instead came out with maybe the worst fries I have ever had. Again, we were not informed of this. This meal belonged in an airport.
The only redeeming factors at BOG were the bread & butter and the $1 "brunch" cocktails. And the bathrooms.
Not sure what was going on this morning but the cooks at BOG need to be addressed and take some notes and suggestions from restaurants not at The Landing. There is a lot of opportunity to become a solid restaurant at The Landing but it seems like they all continue to provide an overall below average experience to the guests which deserve better, some traveling for vacation that want to come have a nice meal. I hope they find ways to improve but I will not be returning and my friends feel...
Read moreWhile looking for a place to eat while we were in Branson, we found Black Oak Grill. It was around 2:30 when we walked into the place, so the lunch rush was over by the time we arrived, and there were only a few parties seated at their tables. We had no wait for our seating.
The waitress we had was very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice and well decorated. The menu had a decent variety of things to get ranging from burgers, steak, sandwiches, fish, etc.
The food didn't take too long to be brought out. The presentation was impressive, and the food smelled really good. My girlfriend got the Rosemary Grilled Chicken while I got the Chicken Fried Chicken with white gravy. Both were served with seasonable vegetables and mashed potatoes. The food was superb! We both shared a piece of our meal to try, and the Rosemary Grilled Chicken was so flavorful, well seasoned, and juicy. My girlfriend said it was some of the best grilled chicken she had ever had, and I can say I would tend to agree with her it was so amazing. The Chicken Fried Chicken was also very good. It was well cooked, tender, and juicy, and the breading was very crispy.
The mashed potatoes with white gravy were very light and fluffy, and the flavor was on point.
The vegetables were perfectly seasoned and very juicy as well.
Overall, our experience there was great! Totally recommend...
Read moreReally this restaurant deserves a 3.5 rating, but when in doubt the lower rating will be suffice. TL;DR: Where's the flavor? Not here.
For starters the menu options were limited even for a lunch menu. The food was bland. Smashed potatoes are arguably one of the easiest sides to make, the chef was some how able to remove all of the flavoring from it. There was no salt or pepper anywhere to be found on them. The "local" meat that they brag about on their menu was rubber in texture and somehow flavorless in taste as well. The "seasoned" vegetables had minor traces of basic seasonings on them, which was a relief, but easy to spot because only cucumber and chopped pepper made it into the pan for my meal. The 3.5 stars came from the service side of the meal. My waitress was attentive and friendly. She was happy to answer my questions regarding my meal. They served me a locally made loaf of bread and butter as a free appetizer given to patrons. Unfortunately great customer service did not make up for the lack of taste or texture in the food. If it were not for the fact that I had participated in hard labor all morning and had a large appetite, I probably would've refused to finish the meal after the first few bites. Here's to hoping other patrons got flavor in their dishes, because there was...
