(For those short on time or attention span, a summary will be provided at the bottom, for the rest, please continue)
My family had originally planned to eat at Paula Dean's on the landing, however after hearing of a nearly 3 hour wait, we decided to do something else, While searching through the list of "restaurants near us" on Google maps, we stumbled on this place, and as most of us enjoy sushi, we figured sure, "why not?" Apon calling MoMo's, we were pleasantly suprsised that our call was answered instantly (which was in stark contrast to most places we had tried to call before ) and were told that we could be seated immediately. We hurriedly dashed over as to not get caught in the rain, and as we walked through the door we were greeted by a wonderful and warm atmosphere, both from the warmth of the building and the staff. We were seated immediately at a table in the middle of the restaurant. We were all pleasantly suprised at how much space the individual seats afforded each of us (as we had been to Guy Fieri's restaurant the night before and had found the booths cramped and claustrophobic). As we began to take a look at the menu our server arrived promptly and took our drink orders; a round of waters and soft drinks for the table as well as a few hot sakes (sa-kay) we were informed(to our delight) by our server that it was happy hour (from 3-5) and that there was a special menu with reduced prices on drinks and food, so we looked over what was offered and one by one selected a round of appetizers to get us started. We ordered the crab Rangoon and the pan fried gyoza(avaliable in a steamed variety for those who prefer a softer dish). No sooner had we put in our appetizer order did our server return with a platter of drinks, and after distributing them to their respective places he took our dinner order as well. I ordered the fried spicy crab roll (8 pieces for only 6 dollars, quite a deal for how expensive sushi can be these days) as well as a California roll. Shortly after our server had walked away he returned with our appetizers, as well as complementary miso soups. I found the soup to be very good, it was warm and salty but not too much(as a good miso soup should be). Our appetizers appeared soon after and were fresh and tasty, the gyoza that I so anticipated was warm and crispy with a delicious dipping sauce to boot. After a very enjoyable round of appetizers our main course soon arrived, my first impressions of the roll were ones of slight confusion. As the menu didn't provide a picture or description of the roll, I had quite a different mental than the dish that was now before me. Never the less, it still looked apatizing enough so I decided to give it a try. To my suprise it was quite good. Much better than I had expected. As I enjoyed the remainder of my rolls I decided to try the California roll aswell. I am personally of the opinion, that the quality(or lack there of) a places California roll is very telling of the general quality and care taken to the rest of the other things in the restaurant. I found this particular roll to be one of the freshest tasting rolls that I've had in quite awhile and it was a pleasant accessory to my main dish. As we concluded our meal, our server brought us some boxes to take the rest of our dish with us. Overall, I found the experience very enjoyable in both the food and quality of service, our server was very knowledgeable about the food and very professional as well. I can say for certian that if given the chance I will be back again
A short summary. Great food, great atmosphere, great service, will...
Read moreWe ordered sushi and a couple of entrees from Momo's tonight through the doordash app for pickup, not delivery. The server made an honest mistake and missed 2 of the rolls that we ordered when she sent our order to the kitchen. Not a big deal, everybody makes mistakes. We live 15 minutes away from the restaurant and it was a pickup order. we didn't discover the missing rolls until we got home and then, just to make sure it wasn't our mistake, we checked the receipt from the restaurant against the door dash receipt and found the restaurant hadn't given us all of our order. When we called, the employee we spoke to said we could just get a refund on door dash for the 2 missing rolls. We attempted to do so but the order hasn't been marked as having been picked up so we called them back and they closed out the order. We followed their instructions to try to receive a refund through doordash and the app said we couldn't get a refund for some unknown reason. It was a lot of money to lose so we decided to call them back to have them make the rolls and then drive back into town to pick them up. First we were told that even though it was their fault the rolls weren't made in the first place, they could not make them now or offer recompense of any kind because the manager basically said it was a doordash problem, not their problem. We were dumbfounded and thought we'd been hung up on when the employee suddenly came back on the phone and said they would make them if we were willing to drive out to pick it up. We went back to the restaurant and while the server was very apologetic and polite, the manager was extremely rude and acted as though we were trying to get free food or something when we had the physical receipt as well as the doordash receipt showing physical proof of the problem. I really don't know how such a condescending and impolite person becomes the manager of a restaurant (maybe she attended Nurse Ratched's School of Hospitality?), but that experience will be our last at Momo's, which is disappointing because the food is delicious. We're also upset with doordash for not issuing a refund and saving us a 30 minute round trip journey and the displeasure of meeting the manager of what used to be one of our favorite...
Read moreI ate here last night as a group of 4. Ordered 2 New York strip meals and 2 choice of 3s and a few appetizers. She acted like she had an attitude for the amount of food we ordered. My waitress forgot only my salad knowing that they were the same kinds of meals purposefully gave me just my soup walked past me to my boyfriend and gave him a salad. I waited 15 minutes for her to come back around to the table and by then my mom let me have her salad, then my mom just asked for the salad for her. Food comes out and she forgets again only my food. We asked for sauce and waited about 5minutes. I then waited about 40 minutes for her to come around to our table again and my boyfriend said “where’s my girlfriends food?” Because they were all already done eating and I was still waiting. Her response was “I don’t think I rung it in?” Which should’ve been impossible because mine was the first thing on the order. She came back and said “2 more minutes” then when I received my food it was incorrect and it was cold (with that being said I know my food had been done and she just forgot to bring it, assuming they tried just reheating it?) This waitress was just a no go, I probably won’t eat here again. She never even refilled our drinks. My food was incorrect from her doing because she rang my rice in as steamed rice and not fried rice. Was cold. My food tasted plain because I could not have my sauce that I asked for because she did not give enough for everybody. Rarely would come to our table for me to even have a chance to ask her for more, which is why I didn’t. By the time I got my food we asked for to go boxes instead so that we could go home because we had been at the restaurant for an hour and a half because of all the waiting. Which is sad because I used to eat at this place all the time and I have even bragged… I’m very disappointed considering I spent $200. This was my first time going out to eat since having my baby 2 weeks ago. I wanted to have a nice night and this was not the place to do so I guess. The only thing I have good to say about it was that the presentation of the food was nice, the appetizers tasted fine, would’ve been better with the sauce I asked for.. and the...
