This was my 1st time at Tommy’s Tavern in the Bridgewater location. I’ve also been to the one in Princeton. Both times, I really enjoyed myself and the food was delicious especially for a chain restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bartender made wonderful suggestions and good cocktails. Tommy’s Tavern has a weekly HAPPY HOUR-MONDAY-FRIDAY 3-6pm. At THE BAR ONLY! The menu has something for everyone. They even offer KIDS MEALS - Kids Mac n Cheese, Kids Penne with Meatballs, Kids Penne with Marinara, Kids Penne with Butter,Kids Grilled Cheese, Kids Pizza, Kids Cheeseburger. This time I met my girlfriend’s and we sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious lunch. I decided to get their SUPER SALMON BOWL- salmon, avocado, cucumber, tossed in wasabi infused ponzu & topped with crab surimi salad, with a touch of spicy mayo & eel sauce. I must say this was delicious. I loved everything about it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My girlfriend chose the same SUPER SALMON POKE BOWL and she shared DRUNKEN CLAMS- a dozen littleneck clams sauteed in a white wine sauce with a splash of marinara, served with garlic bread. The clams were very fresh and had great flavor. The garlic bread was a nice accompaniment and great for dipping in the clam sauce. My other friend chose their HICKORY-BACON BURGER-freshly ground 10oz burger, bacon, topped with melted cheddar, red onion & hickory barbecue sauce and fries. She enjoyed her burger. My other friend chose Tommy’s APPLE SALAD-romaine, gorgonzola, granny smith apples, candied pecans & dried cranberries with apple cider vinaigrette. She added grilled chicken. She too enjoyed her lunch. We didn’t order dessert, but they offer a nice assortment. What’s nice about this location is you have the choice to either dine inside, or outside on their patio. Tommy’s Tavern has Firepit tables outside, which gives a nice ambiance at night. The bar itself is very unique. It’s a huge rectangular bar. Part of the bar is on the outside with the patio and it has a separate entrance from the main entrance with the rest of the bar. This restaurant’s access has no steps, so I think it would definitely accommodate Handicapped people. It’s located in the back area of the Bridgwater Mall. There is plenty of free parking and Handicapped Parking....
Read moreI have a saying. Chaos finds me. It doesn’t matter how far I travel or how well I plan; I am just mere moments from causing or being involved in chaos in some manner. This was far too true when I wandered into Tommy’s Tavern on Monday night. Having had lunch here the day before, I was aware of the layout, but I was not prepared for the change in atmosphere that I stumbled upon. Monday night football was playing on every screen, and it felt like almost every seat in the place was occupied by a wide medley of fans. Normally, I’m not one for a scene so heavily packed, but I found myself enjoying the vibe that ran through the whole place. This is where chaos found me. I was there to meet a bunch of people from a conference I was attending. They had taken up a long table at the very back of the tavern and were already enjoying drinks and the game. I was not the first straggler, nor would I be the last. For the two odd hours that my group was there, members of the conference came and went, each adding a complexity to the normal routine of what a server is used to. Somewhere just getting their drinks while others were into their meals, while still others were just sitting down (and trying to find chairs to accommodate us). Through all of this, Lexi was our server and did a phenomenal job. Having worked in the service industry as a dishwasher and then line cook, I know all too well how hard it can be to manage an area that is at different stages in its experience, so having a table that keeps switching things up is a server’s nightmare. Lexi managed all of this wonderfully, both professionally and friendly. I was pleasantly amazed at how she kept up with all our orders and got none of them wrong. As for the food, I must say that in my four days in town, I ate from Tommy’s Tavern three separate times. All the food is great, but by far my favorite was their pizza. If you are in town, check Tommy’s Tavern out! Make sure to sit in Lexi’s area too! That way you’ll never run out of whatever drink you...
Read moreI do not ever recommend this place for people looking to go out for drinks in the Somerville/ Bridgewater area. Out of all the Tommy’s, we must have the worst one here.
I have been to Tommy’s 3 times, and each time my friends and I have been ignored by the (male) bartending staff. The first 2 times we left after sitting at the empty inside bar for more than 5 minutes. Each bartender passed us multiple times without a hello or I will be with you in a minute. One of them was directly in front of us with his back turned the whole time on his phone. I can understand if it was busy but In these instances we went around 8 pm and it was not a full bar.
The third time we were again ignored as the bartenders made direct eye contact with us as we sat down and again made no attempt to greet us. They continued on with the conversation they were having. Do I even have to explain how rude that is?
After more than 5 minutes of being ignored again we decided to try the outside bar since we wanted to end our night out with drinks and we were there anyway.
The outside bar staff were women and at least greeted us and gave us service. They were much friendlier and were actually working. The outside bar was not busy this night as well.
My only complaint is that they took a very long time with the drinks. It took so long we even made a joke that the drinks were coming from the Bradford rooftop bar upstairs since they are notorious for taking forever with getting out cocktails. Because of this 2 of the cocktails out of 4 were extremely watered down due to them sitting at service waiting to be served all together. It was not enjoyable since 2 of us got the same thing and one was a watery mess and the other was decent.
It is a shame with the limited amount of places to go out in this town that we get this. It’s unacceptable and I’m not the first to experience...
