I love the sweet pork barbacoa ANYTHING, tacos, burritos, salads, tostadas, everything!! I've only been slightly disappointed with the meat once or twice when it's not quite "pulled" or shredded well.... because you get these big hunks of meat that have no delicious barbacoa saucy flavorfulness inside, and it kinda messes the sauce to meat ratio up. It hasn't been so bad that I won't go back, just enough to mention since they're asking for input. It can be a hit and miss when it comes to the guacamole, sometimes it's dark and not the best tasting, and sometimes it's so fresh and yummy that I want to buy a whole tub of it.. which I mention because of the inconsistency, which doesn't end with the guacamole. It seems like it depends on how the employee is feeling and what they decide to give you; like I always ask for my Pico on the side and an extra side of shredded cheese... Sometimes they give me the little 1 oz cup of Pico and/or cheese, and sometimes they give me the big like 4 or 5 oz cup.. which doesn't matter that much to me except for that they charge me for a side of each and it's the same price whether I get a little or a lot... It's probably not a wise decision from a business standpoint. It would be simpler to have a standard measurement for each thing that you can order on the side. The only reason I even order it is because it's an option when I order online and I am usually picking up the food on my way home, which is a 40 minute drive and I don't want it soggy, and I want to be able to heat up the heat up'able parts, but don't want to cook the lettuce or the Pico and so on. So that's why I gave 4 out of 5 stars, because of how staff can be kind of raunchy and inconsistent and I get home and find a tiny side of whatever, and it's not enough to put on the whole meal, or I have unhappy kids complaining about not having enough of this...
Read moreLast night, we ordered two burritos from the drive-thru at Cafe Rio. After placing our order, we were directed to park in a designated spot and wait for our food to be brought out to us. However, what followed was an extremely disappointing and concerning experience.
While we waited, we noticed an employee handing a bag to a car that was still in the drive-thru line. Moments later, the driver of that car got out, approached our vehicle, and asked if the bag he received was ours. To our dismay, the contents did not resemble burritos at all; instead, it looked like the ingredients had been haphazardly tossed into a tin. Naturally, we informed him that the order wasn't ours.
The driver then returned the bag to the employee inside. Shortly after, the same employee approached our car and asked if we had ordered burritos. We explained that the items we saw looked nothing like burritos and appeared to be a mess. Instead of addressing our concerns, the employee just stared at us blankly before walking away without a word.
This entire interaction left us puzzled and frustrated. We couldn't help but wonder if the employee who prepared our order didn't care enough to make it properly or if the mix-up with the other car caused our food to be tampered with. Regardless of the reason, the fact that our food wasn't remade after being handed to someone else is unacceptable. We had no idea what could have been done to it in the interim.
In conclusion, our experience at Cafe Rio was highly unsatisfactory. While the food we received turned out to be burritos, they appeared to be ripped apart or hastily thrown together. The lack of care in preparation and the poor communication from the staff left us feeling uneasy and disappointed. We hope that management addresses these issues to prevent such occurrences...
Read moreUpdate: Cafe Rio had responded to my review, asking me to email them so I could discuss my concerns, which I did. I have heard nothing back from them and now their response has been removed from this review.
"Response from the owner We appreciate you reaching out with the details of your experience, Mike. We're sorry to hear about this and would love to address it further. At your convenience, please contact us at social@caferio...."
My wife and I went to eat at Cafe Rio in Brigham City yesterday for dinner. All, not some, but all the containers of food and sauces were crusted over and the employee had to break through the crust to get to some moist food. There was spilled dried up food drippings all over the serving counter. I normally order chips and queso, but as I watch the employee use a ladle to break through the crusted top and try to pore this glob of stuff into a cup, I said never mind, I'm not eating that. I'm not sure why we continued with our order, but we did. When my wife started to eat her chicken enchilada, she noticed the chicken meat was not the consistency of shredded chicken, but more like canned tuna fish, the texture was terrible. My shredded pork enchilada had similar issues. I complained to one of the managers, she was very nice and refunded us our money and we just threw our food away. The manager explained that there had been other recent complaints and that Cafe Rio recently started having their food cooked and prepared at a central kitchen and then shipped out to their restaurants to be reheated and served. She said that this was being done in an effort to improve consistency in food quality. Well...they failed! They just lost a long time, frequent customer. p.s. If anyone hears that they have gone back to preparing their food fresh, in the restaurant, please...
