If you are veteran, I would not recommend going to this facility. I have spent 6 months in contact with the referral department and patient advocate regarding the hospital erroneously charging me for a visit.
I am 100% covered through TriWest and have explained this multiple times. At first I was informed that they have my information as being a dependent and that is why I am being billed.
However, I am not a dependent so I am wondering why they put that in. What is the point in filling out intake paperwork if the administrative staff is going to put in false information ignoring what I filled out. My intake form stated that I am my own sponsor being the veteran and I did my due diligence by showing them my VA ID and giving them my benefits number for billing purposes.
I understand that this facility may or may not deal with mainly male veterans or service members but come on; women have been serving since 1948. I don't appreciate the staff assuming I am a dependent simply because they see I'm a woman.
After that was cleared up, I was still unlawfully receiving bills from their partner Utah Imaging Associates. After confirming with TriWest and community VA care, they have consistently stated that they should not being sending me any bills. Then I spoke to the same individual from the hospital referral department and she stated that they did not have a referral on file.
I then emailed her my referral to the same individual I was speaking even though this is something they should have already had. The hospital at first cancelled my initial appointment 20 minutes before the appointment because they stated they never received it. I doubt that.
Then they rescheduled me once they apparently received it. So why did I have to send my referral after the appointment? The individual i sent the referral to seemed to want to help but is obviously not trained to handle VA billing. I emailed her information on proper protocol because i should not have to be sending them referrals or speaking with them etc. I am not sure if she received it because I never got a response back from her and I even left her a voicemail stating i emailed her and let her know what it entailed. Still never received a call back.
Basically, any in network facility partnered with the VA should never contact the veteran but instead TriWest for billing issues/concerns. But this facility thought it best to keep sending me bills despite me going out my way to provide TriWest contact info to include a phone number/email and sending them my referral months after the appointment.
This facility does not follow basic procedures or know how to follow the guidelines that pertain to VA patient billing. I have contacted the VA to inform them of this matter and it is being escalated. I even spoke to the patient advocate twice but nothing was resolved. There's no reason why a patient should have to contact a facility about something that can be easily resolved as many times as I have.
This facility should be removed from the network until or if they ever figure out how to follow basic protocol and stop illegally billing VA patients. I have since opted to drive out of my way to other facilities since than ever return to...
Read moreOk, can I say I have never seen a hospital let alone any business that loves their money more than this place? I live in Brigham so naturally, if something happens requiring an ER, I have to go here or risk a long trip somewhere else and depending on what's happening, that can be problematic. EVERY time I've had to use this facility, within a week or so, I start getting bills. Soon after, they immediately send your bill to collections. All of this before the insurance company has even had a chance to review your claim and pay their portion. Seriously? Get a grip!!! I knew another person who was literally having a heart attack and was initially turned away from the ER because they had an outstanding bill that was unpaid. This person asked if he should just go out in the parking lot and die?? The receptionist literally had to go ask for permission to admit this person in the middle of a heart attack!!!! I seriously despise this place and know without a doubt that a single dollar is worth more to them than a life or any sort of quality care. Avoid this place like the plague unless unavoidable. Seriously, when you actually think dying might be better than dealing with this hospital, something is wrong!!!
Had to go to the er last night and they were able to help. The only issue is that if you're in excruciating pain, they jump straight to the assumption that you're in withdrawal from pain meds which was not my case. I had to demand the doc to get saline going. I knew I was extremely dehydrated and it helped but it was obvious the doctor wasn't interested. My issue at hand, however, is just some locked up hips / lower back causing my sciatic to cause pain on such a level, I couldn't eat, drink,...
Read moreI have never ever been treated so bad in my life going into a medical establishment! I had a normal headache that I was dehydrated from and could not get it to go away. Dr. Sharp or Shaw?? They usually treat my headaches with fluid, Benadryl, Toradol and Zofran. He wanted to give me IM injections. I was very dehydrated and couldn’t keep anything down. He said that “it is not normal to give an IV for a headache”. I told him I really needed some fluids to get on top of things. He said (his exact verbiage) “We are too busy to do an IV and we are short a nurse”! Who says that to a patient???? I told him I would just go to IHC . He then told me that I would be in for a long wait there. On the way out of my room I said to him and the nurse (the nurse was very very kind and deserves a raise having to work with that dr) once again I have never been told in a medical facility they were too busy to treat me the way I needed to be and minus a nurse. He then stated in front of the nurse,”I never said that.” I looked at him and said you most certainly did word for word. He treated me awful and then lied to my face in front of the nurse. Needless to say I went to IHC in Tremonton and told them what had happened. They were amazing with me. The Dr there looked in my mouth and said you are definitely dehydrated which I had told the other Dr at HCA and he didn’t bother to even check for signs of dehydration. IHC then gave me a full bag of fluid and also offered another bag because I was still not hydrated. They were very busy but the Dr and the nurse were amazing, respectful and so kind and caring. My mom and I both work in the medical field and I guarantee I will not be telling one person to ever go to the Brigham...
