OneZo — Restaurant in Brookline

Walked in to try a new boba shop. The place looked clean but smelled of chemical odors, so we decided to take our order and leave.

After the lady took my order we sat briefly and she was quite rude to all of the customers in the store. After she aggressively shook the cups at us to tell us our order is ready, I received my order but it was just tea without the milk or much ice. I am not great with confrontation, so i just took the order, but then decided to kindly ask them to correct the order. Instead of fixing it, she proceeded to argue with me and tell me I need to LEARN how to order milk tea. That's a new one for me since I've grown up with milk tea in the bay area and I'm half asian.

After the needless scolding, the orders were fixed. But the whole time they must have been speaking poorly about me and giggling. I may not look like it, but I speak mandarin and cantonese. I chose to not hear what they were saying to try not to get angry. Once I got the tea from their open container of milktea that they poured in my cup, the milk tea was out of balance. Wayy too sweet, no tea flavor and the grass jelly tasted way too chemical like. Didn't even finish it. Much better service and milk tea within walking...

I’ve had plenty of drinks from other Onezos in Boston and can tell you that the drinks I ordered don’t taste right at all. I placed an order on ubereats for a honey black tea latte and a strawberry yakult.

I love getting the honey black tea latte at Onezo in Quincy, or Chinatown. It’s delicious. But this place is strange. My drink tastes like watered down milk with the slightest hint of tea. It also tastes like they just added raw honey into it without properly mixing it. All I can taste is raw honey and milky water.

The strawberry yakult is far too sweet, even though we requested for less sugar. It was so sweet that my partner had to add water into it to lower the sugary taste.

Another issue was that when we went in person a few weeks ago, my partner ordered the caramel burny latte. It tasted like chemicals and straight up burnt.

Update: 10/8 I was hoping for some non dairy options like royaltea has next door and I was surprised to learn about the brown surge latte that has a non dairy base but unfortunately despite the friendly staff member and the delicious taro boba the drink tasted like a cup of cold milk. I will probably steer clear of their milk teas in the future.

Jaden and Eric were super knowledgeable and helpful. Jaden took the time and effort to walk me through all of the offerings and give me his personal opinion on which ones were good. After I went with one of his suggestions honey green tea with taro boba, I tried it and it was most amazing boba I’ve ever tasted and my husband was equally enthralled by their watermelon smoothie. The tea actually tastes like tea and the watermelon was real. I am not definitely looking forward to their non-dairy options in the future!! 10/10 we will...
