This dueling piano bar initially caught my attention as something cool and fun to try, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from start to finish.
Tickets were inexpensive at $15 per person, and the venue advertised itself as a speakeasy. In reality, the “hidden” entrance was a hollowed out armoire placed in front of a red theater curtain, with visible gaps showing the room beyond. Once inside, the space felt underwhelming, more like a dimly lit repurposed bingo hall draped with red tapestry in an attempt to mimic old Hollywood.
Service left much to be desired. Our server passed us multiple times before acknowledging us, about 20 minutes in. We ordered two simple drinks: a vodka tonic and an espresso martini. Both were undrinkable. The vodka tonic tasted sour, almost as if the hoses had not been cleaned properly and the tonic water was spoiled. Even after asking for Tito’s, the remake had the same off taste. The espresso martini was overly sweet and clearly pre batched. Adding to this, the server casually mentioned that their draft beer was past date and unavailable, which could have been phrased more professionally.
The one bright spot was the performer before the piano show, lively, engaging, and entertaining. But after finishing my overly sweet cocktail, we left before the main event even began. I asked about a refund given the subpar experience, but was told none were available. In total, I spent about $60, including the tickets and drinks I did not enjoy.
The quality of drinks, lack of customer service, and overall failure to meet expectations are why I am leaving a low rating. That said, I did notice several tables seemed to be having a good time. Perhaps this place works for some, but it...
Read moreWent on opening night on 1/22/2022. This is located inside of the Pirates theme restaurant. There is a $5 parking charge. There was no cover charge at this time. Went through the closet doors and entered the speak easy. Place was nice. Seating is strange and by strange I mean uncomfortable. The back wall has a very shallow bench as it feels like you are falling off. The high tops are small metal chairs that the people I saw were squished or falling out. So I recommend getting the regular table and chair. Drinks were about $12 each. Mixed bar food. We had a sampler platter, wings, fries and the snack mix. The wings was the best part and the fries were sadly soggy. Service was the worst part. We sat and no one came around. So we just went to the bar. Later a server came by and placed a drink order only for her to come by 10 minutes later to ask us if we needed anything. She said she forgot and didn't put the order in. The pianists were fun and interacting. Worth a second chance after they get...
Read moreNote Beach Club Dueling Piano on same property as Pirates. Pros: Fun place. Good drinks. Great crowd. Good music. Pianists entertaining the entire time. Will give you a birthday shout out.
Cons: -parking lot fills quickly, no street parking allowed w/o residential permit so arrive early enough to find parking -food platter came out cold, no one ate it -Room stuffy -Only one waitress working (need more waiters even w 2 drink minimum, most people ordered more than two), hard to keep up with orders -pianists may not get to your song requests unless you tip more
Tips: -QR Venmo card available on table to tip pianists but you should bring cash. It appeared that using venmo to tip for song requests were overlooked. Cash patrons songs fulfilled first. -Eat before you go -purchase tickets in advance, tables are limited...
