I was so excited to see Wicked early at CGV because I’ve been to many CGVs in Korea and it’s a very nice theater there, however here in Buena Park- they don’t seem to care about ethical business practices and customer experience. There was only one early viewing of wicked at CGV and it was for yesterday at 7 pm. Next to the reservation it said 4DX and the movie was put in a 4DX theater. Me and my partner were excited to experience 4dx as we had never experienced it before and also excited because it was going to be Wicked that we experience it with. Well, when we got there , we’re in our 4dx seats- very uncomfortable but was okay because we figured It’d be moving around and there would be a lot of senses at play that would require seats of this nature. Well after about 5-10 minutes into the movie we didn’t experience any 4dx things and realized it wasn’t going to happen. So there we were in an almost 3 hour movie, in very uncomfortable chairs and dirty theater. Very disappointing. Luckily the movie was amazing so we still had a good time but the popcorn was just okay (tasted a little stale), the chairs horrible, and we just paid extra for en experience we were led to believe we were going to have. Very misleading and unethical business practices. The two stars is mostly because the theater is pretty cool with arcade games and photo booth outside. Also the bathrooms were pretty nice and clean. But other than that. They should focus on not misleading customers for the extra money grab and also caring for their theaters (seats dirty, arm rests broken and kept coming off throughout the movie and had to readjust constantly, sticky marks on back of seats, strange smell, and popcorn and dirty stuff on floor in theaters.) I would also like to mention that I feel they could have done more for the Wicked pre showing like I’ve experienced at most theaters for other early showings (such as a wicked themed menu or people dressed in wicked costumes, or wicked themed backdrops for photo ops or something) overall, I won’t be returning to this theater to watch a movie again. There’s many...

The movie tickets are on the pricer side, but definitely worth it. Some of the movies worth seeing in this theater are action movies and superhero movies. If you were to watch any horror, romance, or comedies at this theater, you might not get your full money's worth. The online system is a bit tricky to manage, but once you get the hang of it it's definitely easier to submit your order online beforehand rather than in the theater. If you're planning on purchasing your tickets at the theater, you might have to wait in line. Get there earlier that way you can give yourself plenty of time before the movie begins. The theater itself doesn't just offer 4dx movies, they also offer the standard movie view, plus Korean subtitles for some movies.
Ticket prices cost on average about $25 for 4DX movies. Definitely keep an eye out for an email confirmation to verify the purchase went through. Unfortunately the emails are not guaranteed, so have your reference number for your purchase available for the cashier. If you don't have your reference number you can always provide the employees with the card you used for the purchase so they can print your tickets.
If you sign up for their rewards membership you save $1 off each movie, plus you can also accumulate points towards free items or free movie tickets. The concession stand has typical theater pricings, but unlike some theaters they do offer alcohol and you can also order flavored popcorn. Luckily they have plenty of parking at this theater since they have a...
Read moreCGV Buena Park is back and open again courtesy of Regency Theaters. It still looks exactly the same and has Korean movies with English subtitles. Please support the theater as it is one of the best in all of California. It's located on the top floor of The Source Mall in Buena Park, Orange County. There is free parking as well with easy access to the movie theater. There are not many places where you can watch South Korean movies - which are the best in the world - so it's really important to keep it open. Regency Theaters has also taken over the running of CGV Los Angeles - which closed in September 2025 - as well. It's been rebranded as Regency Koreatown. The Buena Park location has a great selection of current big US movie releases as well as Korean films. Check the CGV Regency website for up to date listings of showtimes. It has very comfortable seats, and a good choice of snacks and drinks - including cheddar cheese and caramel flavored popcorn. As of June 2025 to January 2026 it also has discounted tickets on Tuesdays - just $7.50 with a $1 booking fee. A bargain.
Here's my original review from a couple of years ago.
It's like being back in Korea. Although not as big as some of the CGV movie theaters in Seoul 서울 or Gyeonggi-do 경기도, this has everything you need and Korean movies with English subtitles - which is the most important thing. It's located inside The Source shopping center, which also has plenty of Korean restaurants as well. Very comfortable premium seats. Slightly expensive but worth it. 그것에 관한 모든 것을 정말로...
