I had never heard of Jersey Mike’s Subs before today. I had dropped off my phone at the Burnsville CPR to get a new battery and had an hour with nothing to do. I went exploring in my car, to the dismay of people driving behind me (I’m sorry, when driving in a strip mall I’ve never been to before I drive slower than normal so as not to miss a “gem of a” store. I left the parking lot and was sitting in line to drive out to drive out onto County Rd 42 when I looked to my left and noticed the sign naming the stores in that corner across from the Holiday. I thought, “Oh, a different sub store.” I hadn’t had a sub in awhile and backed up (no one behind me) so I could turn back into the parking lot. I walk with a cane, but didn’t feel like I needed it right then. Parked in front and went into the store. Got a couple “who’s this guy” looks from what no doubt were regulars as I stood in the middle of the store scanning the menu, not sure what to order. Finally I decided on the #17, a hot Philly cheesesteak. As I was making my order I noticed they had different types of bread, but couldn’t see a sign stating what types are available, which was part of why I chose what I did (I made the assumption that each bread type fit a particular sandwich and didn’t want an “everything” topping). Jersey Mike’s cuts the meats for their subs on an as needed basis which I was impressed with! They have a grill for making hot sandwiches, much more welcoming than the microwave or toaster oven I’m used to seeing at other sub stores. They gave me an order ticket that I needed to hold onto to give the cashier when checking out, which seemed odd, but I suppose its to make sure what gets ordered is paid for on busy days. They did explain the difference in sizes, Giant is a full sub, regular must be the half size. They asked if I would be dining in with them, which was an on the spot decision for me. I decided to stay. I paid for my order and got a fountain drink, sitting down to wait for my sub. I was impressed while waiting, seeing they actually have paper sleeves they put finished wrapped subs into. When finished the cook personally delivered my sub to me. I later learned he was “the boss,” while helping another customer. His demeanor reminded me of the Breaking Bad owner of the “chicken brothers” store. I decided against making a reference at the time (you got any blue crystal? LoL). The sandwich was fantastic! It was more than I was ready to eat at the time and I left with 75% of it in my hand. I didn’t ask for a bag (waste not want not), and was wished a great day from the “boss” as I left who was sitting eating his lunch with a laptop (again looking like the Breaking Bad store owner, lol). An overall great experience!! I’ll be back (but not Terminator style...
Read moreLove me some Jersey Mike's subs. They are always fresh, taste great, and don't take long to prepare. The staff are always in good cheery spirits regardless of how busy they are, which is a pleasant change to the typical employees at other fast good joints around the cities. That's been my experience at every single Jersey Mike's too, which I think is extra impressive considering most are owned separately by different franchise owners, and its something not even McDonald's can come close to. This, to me, shows that they take care of their employees and their employees, like working there/are appreciated.
The atmosphere isn't a 5 star rating only because it's still just a glorified fast food joint. You have to bus your own table, order at the counter, etc. You don't go there for the atmosphere afterall, you go there for the consistently quality ingredients and subs. They also have some non-standard soda brands that I enjoy trying from time to time. Also love their oil mixtures and flavor profiles, it makes me hungry just thinking about it.
This is the type of place where paying a little extra actually gets you a more satisfying meal and that's why I like...
Read moreEdited bumped it up from 2 to 4 stars since the owner kindly refunded most of our tab before even speaking with him. Thank you!!
We were really looking forward to having Jersey Mikes for dinner tonight and our sandwiches were the worst we’ve had from a Jersey Mikes. So disappointing! Spent $110 on 4 giant sandwiches, pops and chips and a tip and there was more bread than there was filling for our club subs with extra bacon, pickles and banana peppers! My son asked why his sandwich tasted different than normal. One was missing pickles and all of the sandwiches had such little lettuce. We’ve never had an issue with ingredients before. They’ve always been perfect. One sandwich had very little Mayo while 2 others had way too much Mayo. Could not taste the mikes your way sauce and the bacon was not good. The bacon was very fatty in some places and very hard, rock like pieces in other bites. Perhaps just an off day, my husband said the 2 people working did not seem to know what they were doing. We normally go to the Savage location which is fabulous and even the one in FL we visited last week...
