I've been to this Coney Island a many times over the years, and there are a few reasons that I keep going back. We'll go over those reasons, and hopefully keep this short and sweet—after all we're talking about a Coney Island here, not some multi-Michelin star eating establishment.

This restaurant is clean (including the bathrooms which is always a bonus), and the staff is friendly and professional. Service tends to be pretty quick even during the busiest of times. Yes, this place does get very busy during peak dining times, especially on the weekends. I attribute this to the food and service being good, and it being centrally located amongst all of the local shopping one can indulge themselves in. This establishment is actually sits at the end of a strip mall, which makes for an easy in, and an easy out. It also makes for ample parking because there is just one giant parking lot for all of the businesses on site—so no matter how busy it gets, you should be able to find yourself a parking spot.

The food here is not only good, it's also affordable—which is a bonus because who doesn't like a good affordable meal? They have the typical things you would find on most Coney Island menus, which is fine because if that's not what you were looking for it would be silly for you to be at a Coney Island in the first place. If you're not from Michigan and have no idea what a "Coney Island" is, boy are you in for a treat. Better yet, the service is here is not only accurate but also extremely quick like I previously mentioned. I don't think we were in the building more than ten minutes before we were eating. The food was hot and appeared to be as fresh as a meal from a Coney Island style eatery could be.

This is a good place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even supper if you brought Grandma along for the ride. If you're out shopping and in a hurry this is one of only a few places in the area where you could be in, out, and on your way very quickly. I don't know how much shopping you'll be able to get done with a full tummy, but I guess...

This place is a disaster now, and this review is for management. We sat by where the waitresses pick up their food, literally each and every waitress every few minutes had to beg the cooks for their items. "C'mon guys I still need my toast" "Guys, please I need those fries!" And remind them to cook things they were suppose to start ten minutes ago or beg for missing items from their orders. It was horrible to witness such a broken process and system. Each waitress has to literally eyeball the plates, wondering if it's for their table, each one walks up and stares, trying to determine the content, in-between of course continually showing cooks their order books and reminding. It's so pathetic... Like, why not just have the waitresses hand the cooks a ticket, the cook makes it, then sets the ticket in front of the plate so waitresses know what it is? Rather than having to guess whats on the inside of a sandwich or whats inside an omlete??? You'd need X-ray vision to work there. It's unreal. We ordered eggs, on an half empty Sunday with about four cooks working. And it took 45 minutes for the eggs to make it ten feet, to our table. Of course, if one of the four cooks had actually made it the first time the waitress asked, rather than having to be reminded again after 30 mins and be shown the ticket book again, as if for the first time, THEN it might have only taken 15. What a poor, pathetic management system. We'll never dine in again. And those poor waitresses... I didnt even have the heart to tell ours we only ever got...

For a Saturday evening, this place was very slow. The food was below average, so I figure that explains the low customer count. I ordered an omelette and asked that the hash browns be very lightly done. They were not. In fact they were brown and mushy, and had probably been sitting on the side of the grill for hours. When the server brought them to my table she asked if they were ok. I looked at them, then looked up to see the cook had come out and was standing at the counter glaring at me. I decided to say nothing. The omelette was also overcooked and didn't have much taste. Gee, eggs and potatoes...two of the easiest foods to prepare; so how can a professional cook get them wrong?! Finally, when I went to pay my bill, the cashier ran my credit card four times without it processing, then went to ask someone how to do it! By then my card would not process at all and I was forced to pay cash. I called my bank afterwards and was told there was nothing, as far as my account was concerned, that should have prevented a successful payment ("other than operator error"). Look, there are hundreds of Coney Island restaurants in Metropolitan Detroit, but the quality varies greatly, so you just have to find the one or two you like and stick with them. I won't...

Plato’s Coney Island is a fine place to eat. The staff is attentive and the cooks and chef produce quality, tasty and nourishing food. I enjoy their gyros very much. Portions are generous. They have several healthy choices on their menu that are not only good for you they taste great! There is plenty of parking outside, just be careful when you are navigating you way to the door because the restaurant is on the corner of the strip mall and traffic is fairly constant coming from that direction and heading out. It is reasonably easy to get to the location when coming in off of Lilley Road, north or south. It is very easy to get to when heading east on Ford Road. When heading west I recommend heading south on Lilley first. The place is kept very clean and neat. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent.

We go here for the coneys and fries. In my opinion, Plato's has the best fries of anyone in the area. They're hand cut and cooked perfectly. The coneys come with a generous serving of coney sauce, so I dip a few of my French fries in the excess and it makes me happy. :) The wait staff is always super friendly and we're in and out quickly. Their prices are a little lower than other coney islands nearby, which is always a bonus, especially when the food is good. Some aspects of the place could use a little updating (like the kind of grubby- looking moldings around the base of the seats), but tables and chairs have always been clean when we've been in, so I don't have any big complaints. Go here. Order fries and a coney. Dip your fries in the excess coney sauce, and smile as you taste the deliciousness.

Hiccup right out of the gate. We walked in, and the sign states, " Seat yourself." The front was full with the exception of 4-5 tables, but they weren't bussed yet. So we proceeded to the back. A waitress said the backs closed, and we will clean off a table. So we stood there waiting, and when they cleared off a table, we started in that direction to which the waitress then stated these people were ahead of you. So clearly, the sign needs to be changed to read "please wait to be seated" to avoid this confusion for all patrons. After this debacle, we were finally seated after we stood there and waited for 2 tables to be bussed. The service was average as well as the food. Comparable to like type restaurants.
