Keke Breakfast Cafe, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral Fl. Here is some chatter and 2 cents on the food.
A big observation on this eatery is the customer service. All the staff is extremely nice. They seem to go out of their way to make sure your stay is very welcoming. Not that this is wrong. It is a bit over the top compare to other restaurants I have been to.
Now the important part the food. I got a waffle, ham steak and over easy eggs. Also some country fried taters.
This food is of very high quality and good portions. It is well prepared. Though more expensive compared to other chains and eateries.
BUT...take note of reading the menu and listening to your server...On a combo plate they offer 1/2 slice ham steak but will up charge you to a full ham steak if not careful. Plus they will offer and charge EXTRA for organic pure Maple syrup for your pancakes or waffle. I personally cannot taste the different, Though at home I buy and use pure Vermont syrup from Coscto.
One other nice but quirky thing is giving my eggs & ham on a long rextangle plate instead of a round or typical plate...( see photograph)
As stated service was stellar.
Keke's Breakfast Cafe, Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fl., Here is my 2 cents on the food and chatter.
First lets chat...Keke is another chain. Good & bad. The good was they had 11 different types of waffles. The most of any that I have found in the area. The bad NO deviation of this list. I could not have my bacon inside my waffle.
The good being brand new in the area they have lots of staff. The bad they have lots of staff. Which some will be laid off after the new has worn off and snowbirds go away.
My meal. Waffle, crisp with bacon inside. Nope: cannot have bacon inside OR ON TOP OF THE WAFFLE!!!!!!! Aghainst corporate policy.
I got my waffle it was NOT crisp...I told my server,Sandy, she apoligized and offered to have a new one made. I declined.
The waffle was good, big butter on the side and large portion of whipped cream, too.
I was going to ask about the syrup, but I am sure it was just corn syrup. Never the real maple stuff to pricey for the bottom line of corp.
The coffee was fine it was bottomless, the cup is just too small.
A manager came by, ask me about my meal, I told her. She offered a new one. Long story short, without me asking, I got a discount and a fruit dish to take home.
So thumbs up for customer service.
Note: they are next to Aldi...So be warned if you go on a Sunday the parking lot and the line to get in...
Read moreOnly reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the manager on duty. The server who took my order over the phone was very sweet and patient. When I arrived I was immediately greeted by the host who informed me that the server who took my order was currently with a table and would be up to cash me out shortly. Great, no problem. So I'm just standing there patiently waiting when the manager on duty, Earland, approaches the host stand. He greets me and attempts to cash out my order but realizes he can't which was kind of an awkward exchange but no big deal. He again tells me what the host already had which the server who needed to cash me out was with a table. So he sits there impatiently staring at her and trying to get her attention almost as if he wants to interrupt her while she's taking a table's order. Those customers matter too and I told him that I was in no rush, I could see that she was busy with the table and it wasn't a problem. At some point during my time waiting for my food an off-duty employee came in. The only reason I know she was an off-duty employee is because the manager greets her by saying something along the lines of, "I told you not to come in here out of uniform." His statement I could tell made her and the other employees nearby feel uncomfortable. She stated she just came in to collect her paycheck to which he retorts with a snarky comment about how he never sees her doing any work because she's always standing around talking and is surprised she has a check. Mind you, I AM STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF BOTH OF THEM. I can hear this entire conversation very clearly. I even paused, waiting for people to laugh hoping this was some workplace sarcasm/humor. It wasn't. I couldn't believe a manager would speak to another employee that way, let alone IN FRONT OF A CUSTOMER. Frankly I'm appalled if this type of behavior is permitted. Overall, I found his behavior extremely unprofessional. The servers and host(s) I interacted with were nothing short of wonderful and my omelet is delicious. However, I will not be a returning customer as I do not tolerate or support management who treats their staff with...
Read moreJuly 12,2022 update: Thought I’d update my previous post. We recently went in for breakfast and things were much better. Service was very good. The breakfast was excellent. The food came out at a reasonable time. It was served to us hot. That’s much better than last time. My daughter had pancakes again and they were very good!
My wife and I decided to go here Sunday around 12:30. The wait was right at 20 minutes. Not bad. I watched the host staff(being a former general manager of a restaurant I couldn’t help it)as they worked. I was impressed. They didn’t get distracted from conversations and forget to call tables. The busing was very good and quick. They also spray the disinfectant onto the table and use paper towel to clean. Very well done.
I had French Toast Combo with eggs over medium. Very nicely done! The French Toast is my favorite here. My wife had a Chocolate Chip Pancake. Only one. These are very large. She was having difficulty cutting through it with her fork and needed to work through it with a knife. Pancakes should not need a knife to cut it. Flavor was ok. She also had the House Potatoes. She really enjoyed them.
Now part of reviewing a restaurant is including the service. I expect excellent service from establishments like KeKe’s. We waited 30 minutes to get our breakfast. So did the table behind us. We were both 2 tops. I don’t put this wait on the server. She was pleasant and hospitable. She wasn’t happy about it either and kept apologizing. This is the kitchen and manger’s failure. He made a few appearances and left. Never a word.
I give it 3 stars. Everyone has a bad day, however, a great manager never allows himself to have one while working. Otherwise he cause his guests to have one at his establishment. I’ll go again and see if we can up...
